to be fair though, our away form is pretty much the same as birmingham, blackpool, cardiff and hull. like you said though if we improve our away form then we should be sorted as our remaining home games are pretty much bankers except for reading.

Well that settles the argument then - none of them have won at The Vic this season. ;)

Home win or, at worst, a draw for me - unless our new keeper has a 'mare of a debut. May also need Muzza & Deeney to both be fit though. :(

OOOOOH I love it when the rich boys big 'eds get on here - we're bound to win cos we got more money etc etc ....... and its soooooooooo lovely when they disappear afterwards to annoy someone else.

Its only a game forget to attach a picture of Lambert belly flopping in a penalty area after someone from the opposition sneezed -did it twice in the away match to cheat 2 pens.

Someone from the opposition must have sneezed so hard it blew the ball onto your players arm. The first pen was for hand-ball but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant.

We may be the only club in history who've paid less in transfer fees than we've taken in (by a pretty significant margin) who still get accused of attempting to buy a league.

I think I remember seeing in the past week that Saints finances were not looking too rosy at present. A big loss, about £7m if I recall correctly on last season and with outstanding loans the amount due was similar to Pompeys £40-50m. You cannot compare the two situations directly, but it does show how quickly money can flow out rather than come in.

Have a look in Companies House, the accounts show that you do.

And how much of that pretty significant margin was AOC?

Anyhoo, we are perenial relegation favourites who still give the 'big boys' a bloody nose quite regularly. Not going to predict a result - you'd be mad to in this league - but with so many Saints fans predicting if not a walkover, a cruise to victory, then they are on a hiding to nothing and a victory to us, if it happens, will be all the sweeter.

----and thats the way we like it, we like it, we like it
oh woh oh woh oh woh

(thanks to Saint Pauli by way of CP)

Saints has nothing like the deficit you mention and are not in any financial difficulties. Clubs the same as other businesses often run at a loss for a year two for tax reasons as much as anything else. The 7 million you refer to was to cover commitments made during the take over. As a club we do not owe any one outside of the club other than the normal running of a football club. Our owner has invested via an interest free loan to club for it's rise to the premiership. So it is nothing more than a stake that anyone starting up a business would need. The difference being our club is self financing via our owners and not through the bank. So although we made a paper loss we actually don't owe any one money as such only the owners.

And there hangs the tail. Only owing money to the owner is a debt and the owner can for one reason or another want it back. Watford owed money to their owners and they made a call for it back quite suddenly. It can and does happen.

Me thinks you have been reading one or two comments from Pompey fans recently ;) Please don't spend too long worrying about our finances, the loss in moving up from League 1 was completely planned for (the £15m from Arsenal was not).

Interestingly Nigel himself admitted that one of the penalties we got against you wasn't a penalty. But that didn't change the fact that you are currently the second worst team to visit us this season. I'm sure it will be a different story on Saturday however and we will face much more of a test.
