Once again, its proposed about a European Super League which would certainly reduce the money in standard domestic leagues.

I agree with him about the Europa league though as many teams see it as a distraction so if it's to improve in allure it needs revamping.

the biggest farce ever for me is when champions league teams who don't get our of their group automatically get into the Europa league, what a farce, it totally devalues the competition and it rewards failure for champions league teams, and punishes success for the teams who got that far in the Europa. load of my ass.

 

I agree with that. If you can't get to the next stage in the Champions League you should be out of all cups and not given a second chance to keep going in another knock out tournament.

UEFA though claim it adds spice to the tournament with 'better teams' joining in the later stages and therefore retains it's reputation as a quality competition.

 

It's probably only me, but I'd be interested in a competition between the best of the Championship vs Serie B, la Segunda Division de La Liga, etc.

The only way to give credibility to both the Europa Leaggue and each nations respective domestic cup competition is to reduce the size of the CL proper to 16 teams rather than 32 and perhaps giving a CL spot to the Europa League winner.

I personally think winning a domestic cup thus qualifying for the Europa League is a hinderence for the next up and coming season. See Stoke and Fulham, their players are knackered.

 

Hope he's wrong this would kill football, teams like Newcastle would end up like Celtic and Rangers and it would spoil football. Bit like the Champions League has been a hindrance, as it only suits those who qualify every year, though that said its now killing Arsenal.

 

100% disagree with CL losers going into Europa. That in itself attached a stigma it that the old UEFA cup never had. It is seen as a booby prize (yes I just wanted to use the word booby)

To make the Europa league more interesting, offer the winners a spot in the Champions League the following season. Problem solved.

 

Think that would be a good idea, seem to remember a few years back Porto winning the UEFA Cup one year then the Champions League the next year.
