    He might.

If HBA looks like he might be on the verge of being the player we hope he might be, then I'd give him a start and tell him that his disclipline and effort against Wolves will determine whether he starts against the Mackems. His disciplien and effort against the Mackems will determine whether he belongs here or not

The problem for HBA is the fans expecting him to turn it on when he comes on, but he needs a run of full games, not just coming on for the last 20 minutes to get up to speed. Maybe a bit more patience is needed this season and next season we might see the best of him.

He's hardly played any matches since he's arrived due to the injury and slowly bringing him back in. I guess many just think that as he's been in England for over a year then he must know the English game by now.

Same goes for Obertan to be fair.

They both need time on the pitch to adapt their games but until Pardew thinks Ben Arfa is ready physically and mentally; he's not getting on the pitch. I can only guess that Obertan trains really hard but his non-performance vs Spurs may sway Pardew to get Ben Arfa on the wing from the start.

I agree. That's why I would tell him that his effort and discipline, not his performance, will determine whether he starts against the Mackems. If he puts in a shift, passes the ball apprpriately and playes the position assigned but nothing comes off for him, fair enough. He will have great games and off games from tiem to time. If he will play the position assigned to him he will come good, and it doesn't need to be on Saturday
