Once upon a time there lay a vineyard that had gone to waste. However, a landowner from a far off land saw the potential in this land for he was a man of considerable knowledge who knew how to get the best out of it. The first thing he did was to recruit a grower with considerable knowledge of a range of grapes and how to blend these together. In his first year a good vintage was yielded. Unfortunately, very early in the second year tragedy struck the vineyard for the owner died whilst the grower was forced to go after a serious disagreement with the workers. Fortunately, the deceased landowner left his vineyard in the capable hands of his family and trusted friend. Very soon the previous grower had been replaced by a one who had managed to produce amazing results in a very small vineyard in the far north of the country. The new grower was a person of huge wisdom for he saw that the previous one had left him some excellent grapes. So with careful pruning and fertilising, the vineyard produced its best yield ever at the end of the second year. Such was the quality of the soil that a second harvest was produced in the late summer of the third year. However, a change in the weather damaged the vineyard quite badly. The grower in his wisdom, saw that the damaged plants could be nurtured back to good health with careful maintenance. He then approached the great friend of the deceased landowner for monies to purchase a new grapes including one of Oriental origin as he could see a potential improvement in the quality of the harvest in the third year. It is thought this vintage of red and white could even surpass last yearâs fantastic yields. On Saturday the vineyard was open for all to see the efforts. Those who attended, promised to come back for more, having sampled a taste of this yearâs vintage.
