I personally think graffiti when done properly is great. Some of it is really imaginative and the skills required are pretty good.

When I went to France a few ears ago now, they had set walls for graffiti artists to do their stuff and I was amazed at the skills. Also in England on some coal carriages there is some decent "art".

Maybe we should do what the French do and give people a place to graffiti, it can look quite good and is not always an eye-sore.

To be honest whereas I will always maintain the renaming was a bad idea and a con to advertise his business empire, I really can't see the point of the grafitti. It changes zero and is a bit of a waste of time. he knows how the fans feel already, and doesn't give a hoot. Time to move on from this issue if you ask me. It's wrong, we all know its wrong, but daubing the walls etc is just a bit pointless.

i thought what the guy did was class, and i know we have been over this a million times but christ man this sports direct thing is ridiculous. even the logo is jippo looking as ****

regarding the whole giving people a place to do graffiti, they do that all over the uk , its more termed street art than graffiti, and defeats the whole purpose of "graffiti" itself. Not condoning damaging property at all, though did when I was a kid , and still paint now. Painted yesterday in this place underneath a motorway , huge flat walls running a long a field with a stream running through and everything. Places like that where you do not expect to see these huge splashes of colour and imagination are amazing, imo , if it was legal and everyone knew about it, not so much.

if anyones interested take a look at horphe from france' stuff. Off key blow. your.mind style

Much as I half appreciate the sentiment, it looks **** and just makes St James look awful. Get Banksy in to sort it out.

I remember walking through a tunnel in Gateshead, they had obviously commisioned an artist and he painted the inside beautifully so it looked like there were thorny vines wrapping around the walls. Really tastefully done.

Went back a few days later and scrawled over it was "DON'T **** ON THE ****TERS" AND "SCALLY IS GAY".

A few days later and it had been repainted plain white...

Good graffiti artists are outnumbered 10:1 by the destructive kind who just want attention. That is why so many councils give up paying money just for it to be spoiled by yobs.

that IS graffiti though. Comissioned stuff is art work, with a spraycan.

crudely drawn cocks, "so and so is gay" and all that, proper graffiti

that place i was on about where we painted, theres stuff about 30 yards up the wall, peoples names..skinz, things like that. Ridiculously high, must have been scaffolding there at some point in the 80s. find all that fascinating. You can also see peoples names in the motorway above where people have shimmied across what would be a certain death drop, makes me shiver even thinking about it.

Someone could probably make a fast dollar selling "St. James' Park" stencils.

I wonder if the name ever gets changed back if we see Ashley in a hoodie spray painting "SPORTSDIRECT" all over the place.
