I was only 5 at the time so can't remember watching the game, but have the DVD at home and it's up there with the 5-1 in Munich as the best England game i've seen in my life time (I realise they're few and far between!)

Was a great game, was on exercise at the time so we put up a big tent up and ran a TV of a generator, we even had a couple of cans :)
Was a shame we let that one goal in as i think thats what cost Scotland a place in the next rd? I may be wrong slept a few times since then! Lol

I take it you were being sarcastic about costing Scotland a place in the next round?

One of my fondest memory of that tournament was the Scotland game.

All the boys had arranged to watch it around fat Jacko's house( called so because he weighs six stone wet through). Fat Jacko wasn't too happy with this but he was out voted so the venue was set.

When we arrived we discovered he'd set up a TV in his back garden so we could watch it outside. It wasn't so we could watch the game in the fresh air as much as he didn't want us in his house. Cheeky ****er.

If you can remember it was a scorching hot Saturday afternoon and as such we couldn't see a thing due to the bright afternoon sun.

I lead the protest and stormed into his living room to watch the game.
Five minutes later Shearer heads England one up and his living room gets wrecked in celebration.

    Great times.

    Not wrong there mate.
My memory might be playing tricks but I remember every England game in that tournament was played on either a scorching hot afternoon or a balmy summers evening.

Like I say it was a truly great summer for NFU.

I wasn't i think they played really well against us even though they lost, then to draw with the dutch and i think they won 1-0 to the Swis when we could only manage a draw i thought they deserved to go through!
I like to see all the home nations doing well!
