We know that you can use statistics to prove anything you want......it's how you interpret them that matter.......Politicians have been doing it for years.

Facts and figures have always interested me.........I expect sensible is starting to lose the will to live at this moment.....and he could well be asleep by now.

Division Two.....League positions of bottom seven clubs.

    18th....Barnet..............28.....9..... 6....13....35......46....-11......33

    19th....Macclesfield......29.....8......6....15....26......35.....-9.......30

    20th....Bradford..........28.....6....10....12.....33......39.....-6.......28

    21st....Hereford..........30.....6.....9.....15.....28......47....-19......27

    22nd...Plymouth.........30.....5.....9.....16.....31......52....-21......24

    23rd...Dag & Red........29.....7.....3.....19.....30......51....-21......24

    24th...Northampton... 29....6.....6.....17.....34......57....-23......24

Notable Facts..........Plymouth only won 1pt in first nine games.......the equivalent of giving the league nearly a nine game start.

Plymouth have won less games than anyone.

Form of bottom seven clubs over last ten games in points gained order.

    Barnet...........5....2....3....13....9....17

    Bradford........3....5....2....13...11...14

    Plymouth........2....5...3....12...13...11

    Dag & Red......3....2...5....13...15...11

    Hereford.........2....2....6...10...12..10

    Northampton...2....2....6...11...18...8

    Macclesfield.....1....2....7....5...15...5

Obvious fact here is Macclesfield are in free fall situation at the moment......although they are six points in front of us at present......we have pulled six points back in the last ten games.

Our present form although not great is the equivalent over a full season of 50.6 pts........the problem is we gave everyone a nine game start.

Checking who you are playing in the next few weeks doesn't go to the form book very often....so doesn't help too much.

We were disappointed last night because we didn't win.........fact to take into account Barnet were one of the top form clubs going into last night game.

Bright point we are not in a relegation position at the moment.

But.......one problem........most of the teams above us have games in hand.

But cheer up....... our game in hand from the bad weather....... is free-falling Macclesfield.

I'm glad you can see some bright points Plymborn.

Having changed my avatar from "Keep Calm And Support Argyle" to "Don't Panic", I've now moved along the Dad's Army scale to "We're All Doomed". Unfortunately, although we aren't getting beaten too much, we just aren't winning enough games, especially at home, so I expect to stay at this level or alarm & despondency for the rest of the season.

I reckon on todays league table there are 5 clubs who might go down. Only two will so we have a 60/40 chance of avoiding it. Now there is a positive spin on stats for you. I really believe this season will see some pretty low points total for being relegated and not the usual 50 mark. Nobody is putting a run together not just us so whilst not great there is still room for hope. Lets have this conversation again after another 5 matches when it might have sorted itself out.

Well my take on it, is that Fletcher is a piss poor manager, but we're stuck with him now. I think we will stay up but only just. As Sensible says, it's 2 from 5 now and I just think there could well be two even poorer teams than us between now and the end of the season. Having said that, our last 6 games look quite difficult so we really need to start winning games now.

We can't keep relying on others losing as well. We should be taking advantage of other clubs losing. I know Sensible went on Tuesday and felt we should've won, whereas I only had the commentary to go by and they certainly saw it as Barnet probably feeling they were unlucky not to win. Also many people on Pasoti and ATD who went to the game were not impressed at all and don't see it quite like Sensible. So it probably was a justified draw, but even if it was unlucky, we haven't got time to rely on fortune going our way. If Fletcher was as tactically aware as Lawrie Sanchez, he would have changed things round a lot earlier, and introduced subs with enough time to make an impact. We need to start scoring regularly so that one lucky goal against, or one bad refereeing decision won't cost us so dearly.

I don't particularly think we were unlucky not to win greenjock but I didn't see us outplayed either. With a bit of luck we could have snatched it but it is in short supply for us as we all know. I actually don't think Barnet edged it or derserved to win either so a draw on balance was probably fair in the end. They had chances as did we. Some people, because they are just pissed off in general with Argyle, do look to knock them at every turn because they don't turn draws into wins but I do try to be objective and fair to both sides. I think people are expecting too much for this side results wise and because expectation is too high they see the draw as a failure. Look at it another way with say Crawley and Southend as examples. We were not better than either but we were not worse either and those 2 are knocking on the promotion door at the minute. That shows the improvement but points are so desperately needed right now not performances.

Too many people still don't think it's possible that we have such a crap team. Because our demise has been so swift it's hard not to keep harking back to the Championship days I suppose.

A lot of people still have the old," we should be beating the likes of........." when realistically opposition teams are more likely to be looking at playing us and thinking they should be winning against the likes of Plymouth.

    Sad times indeed.

I agree that is what people seem to think. But we are not a big club and we don't have players that will make us a big club. We are skint with bargain basement players and to be honest we are lucky to still be in touch now. Our luck over the last few years has been so bad that I need to believe this will change for the better soon. Laws of averages says it must surely. I have seen Argyle outplay one team this season. One single solitary team. The rest have either been even or us on the whipping end. We have been unlucky in a few. That's the reality and people should be a bit more honest. I could never ever predict Argyle to lose but when predicting a positive result for them I don't honestly believe what I'm typing.

It will be interesting to hear Chris Webb co-commentating on the game on Saturday. I wonder how honest he will be?

If we are apalling, will he be able to be critical? Not a problem if we play well and get a result, but if we get hammered he's in a tricky position.

Don't see why he shouldn't be biased like the other commentators are on the radio. Most of them are a bit green tinted. I don't think there would be anything wrong in saying we were pants if we got hammered, even premiership managers can manage that when it is blatantly obvious. But we will of course get the right result jock, I'm totally convinced of it. Honest.

Good for you Sensible. I stumbled across Fletchers interview earlier, and have to say that any optimism I had about us staying up is waning fast. This guy is who we have placed the future of our club in, and he barely comprehends the English language, never mind gives any indication that he knows what day of the week it is, or have far the stadium is from the ground? And I am reassured now that I know he has given thought to how the kit be be laid out?

When asked about speedier players, he just loses the plot and uuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmm it doesn't matter how fast you are if you haven't got the ball. It is truly awful and I hadn't heard such an in depth interview with him. I now don't think we have much chance of survival.

He did say in the early days of his managerial career......that league tables were not the things that he looked at........I just hope in the meanwhile he's had a teeny weeny little look......because most of us have got stiff necks looking over are shoulders in recent weeks.
