Saints fan in peace. Guys it is nice to see that there still is decent fans around that refuse to condone such barbaric postings as we have witnessed on twitter. Personally I hope they catch the guy and throw the book at him. Others tell me the same guy posted similar barbaric things in relation to the Keane episode. If this is true the guy has just got to be sick in the head. Either way it is so sad that any one would stoop so low as to post that kind of thing. Sadly maybe that is the kind of society that is around in today's world. Anyway I just though I would thank you for your support for Billy on behalf of a lot of Saints fans.
If someone rings me, so I'm 'receiving' the message, can I be abusive or am I still 'sending' the message? I view unsolicited calls as an univited intrusion of my home, so think different rules should apply.
It's hard not to support Billy Sharp, he comes accross as a really decent bloke. Most people and especially parents can feel the pain he must have gone through.
It would be under 16s, I was thinking voting but now you mention it I'm sure it's the same form for registering for Council Tax (I've got extra because I'm a student so I'm not sure). Plus you've got the 17 year olds who would be on incase they turned 18 before the next election and their voter registratioons needed sending out before the next regular update of the register.
There was actually a program on tv maybe a week or so ago about Internet trolls. The sad specimens they turn out to be, in most cases. I think people feel they can't be touched for it, but they can. People go down for stuff like this. As is often the case, I think these things are routed in people's low self esteem, or their own sense of hopelessness. So they shoot down those who make something of themselves. (Please, anybody who is actually qualified in any form of psychology tell me otherwise, I'm just musing here. I am quite happy to be wrong and corrected, it's an interesting thing to look at.) Additionally, people have been known to commit suicide when being the victims of trolling. So a potentially very devastating thing. In this particular case, how low can you go? It's cheap, opportunistic & vicious. Lousy people.
I'm sure (or I hope) the police will be able to get the sick bastard's ISP address (or whatever) from twitter so they can prosecute him. And Saints fans, thanks for stopping by and your kind words, and for the thread on your board. As has been said, Billy seems a very likeable bloke, but anyway nobody should be taunted and abused after losing a son
The same happened with our intellectually challenged friends down the road at Portsmouth; some people are so thick! Thanks for all you support with Billy Sharp. I hope this idiot is caught and sent to Winchester prison with a high number of Saints fans inside waiting to greet him!!
I hope it is just a daft kid that's tweeted this because that would easier to deal with. Then again,it wasn't done by a man was it. Im feel for Billy, and all i would like to say to him is,dont bite kid. You know there's always going to be morons around.
I think it's obligatory to be as abusive as possible with these people. I've registered my number with the TPS service, yet I still get called weekly about my non-existent whiplash injury, or the compensation I can receive for the payment protection policy that I never took out, or the kitchen company that are looking for showroom properties in my area, or the government insulation grant scheme, or the double glazing offers etc etc etc... All junk mail and cold calling should be banned.
You should do what I have taken to doing. Answer the phone in a really camp oriental voice and tell them they sound like a really nice boy. Speak over them and ask them their name, what time they finish work etc. They'll soon hang up.
Saints fan in peace. I saw that programme too. I did study psychology as an undrgraduate many moons ago, but regardless, I think thats a decent description/explanation as to the reason why these 'trolls' get a sick kick out of peoples grief and loss.
BRING BACK THE STOCKS. Let the people throw there rotten veg and fruit at this Chris Boyd or whoever he is. Maybe let Billy Sharp kick a few balls at him as well. JOB DONE. Thats enough. imo.
Could be a deceptive name. Personally, as a Saints fan, the account was created after our game with West Ham and only ever sent 4 tweets, all to Sharp. This was after a game where he was booed throughout by West Ham fans for confronting Noble, who Sharp and the rest of the Saints side believed had dived, before Taylor put his hand round Sharp's throat. Because Sharp hit the deck the Hammers accused him of play-acting and getting their man sent off. Video shows this not to be the case, he did not ham it up or play-act. He got shedloads of abuse but nothing relating to his son, although he got lots of swearing and abusive messages. Just makes me wonder, maybe it was a West Ham fan... just putting that out there, nothing is certain.
When I read the report, I have to admit, that I was sickened by the thought of the effect on Billy Sharps family. The moron who posted it needs to be found and punished.
Trolling has to be a singular activity, a form of bullying that cannot normally be shared, as once it becomes known that you are a troll, you cannot be trust by your peers.
Can't imagine why anyone would want to say such horrible things to Billy Sharp. And OLM - if I had heard that some rat had sent racist stuff to Aaron I would have been down there helping you find him. Cowards the lot of them. Sharp is a star for having the courage to reply and stay on twitter and I'm glad Aaron is back on too. Proper men.
