Strange one. Obviously he has had a strong budget for the league and they've had a recent dip, but they are still well in contention. I hate it when clubs say things like "However with 16 matches to go we still have an oppotunity to achieve promotion and we have made this change with this in mind."

So if you still have an opportunity to gain promotion, why don't you let the manager who has got you into contention finish the job? Short sighted chairman unfortunately.

Most of their fans are delighted he's gone and they know more about their club than any scoffing journalists or fans of other clubs. Spent a lot of money in terms of fees and wage bill for that level and is on target to fall short of their target (automatic promotion) again this season.

Poor form to be hoping they fail just because they've sacked a former NUFC player, we know more than most what it feels like to have outsiders tell us how wrong we are about our own club.

Think they've lost one out of last 10, also had a run of 43 games undefeated. Football is going crazy if they think that's failure. Hope he turns up at Wolves and we see him next week-end.

Can't see it, think they've got their hearts set on Curbishley.

It does from the outside look like a bizarre move.

Haven't been following Coventry's games so had no idea how they were doing, but Clarkie did give them a lift when he first went there. I remember when they came up here for a late mid-week ko they brought loads of supporters coaches with them. The most I'd ever seen an away team bring to SJP. Hope he hasn't taken to the drink and hasn't been able to give it his best shot.

Of course his heart always lay in the same place. Remember when he played for Sunderland against us?

No because it never happened <laugh>. The thing to remember for Clark is in two years time Huddersfield will be back where they were 5 years ago or so and he'll be managing at the top end of the Championship.

Why Wolves would want someone who hasn't managed since 2008 is beyond me.

I've just been reading Skysports News web site, the comments from HTFC fans are pretty mixed, if it's true he was sacked by phone as some are claiming, then that is terrible, showing little or no regard for Clarkes service to the club.

The Coventry fans will be better informed than anybody and to sack a manager over the phone shows what a bunch of ******s he's been working for. So much for loyal service even if it didn't reap the rewards they wanted.

That kind of thing wouldn't be accepted in most work places and the Unions would be calling for a strike if it did happen. I think Clarkie's union reps will have a word or two to say about all of this.

Think he is consdiering sueing them for unfair dismissal, though he would be better looking to get back into the game as quick as possible and sticking to fingers up to them.
