How come a decent post deteriorates into something like these? I like Erics sense of humour, (most times)
I hope you are right, I think we need to keep the same form going and other results go a bit in our favour.
March is the most crucial month of our season, if we hit March in great form I don't think automatic promotion would be far off.
I think a minimum of 4 points is needed from the Saints, Cardiff & Blackpool games if we are to cement our place in the top 6
In 2008 we had 45 points from 30 games and finished the season on 75pts - good enough then for third. 30 points from our last 16 games (championship form) -amazing and we lost at Sheff U and Ipswich in the last few games. Will need 75 points min I reckon this year to finish 6th. So thats 25 points from 16 points - very dooable.
to me it seems the serious contenders are starting to move towards the front now, i only see the top 8 challenging from here on in (with the possible addition of Burnley). I had a quick look at the next 4 or 5 fixtures of the other 3rd - 8th place sides and none of them have it easy.
Still 16 games left but don't see Leeds Brighton or Leicester outside current top six finding their way into it come the end of the season. Only see us Boro and Burnley outside the current top six making the playoffs. So thats 9 into 6 come the end of April.
I wouldn't really say it has deteriorated - NFU and I had a quick little misunderstanding and then solved it instantly. We've hardly had a huge row to ruin the entire thread.
On current form we will get around 77 points, but I feel that we will achieve about 82 points. Either way both amounts will be good enough for the playoffs but I fear they will not be for the auto places
Somebody will go on a decent run - at the moment Blackpool might well grab one of the two auto spots the way they are going. Southampton seem to be stuttering big style particularly away from home (2 wins in their last 12 even though they got a good pt last night against 10 men West Ham for much of the game) West Ham always have a propensity to flatter to deceive. Don't think anyone will run away with the league in the way Reading did a few years back. To grab an automatic we need to be looking at a min 85 points - a tall order.
