Mixed fortunes for two of our players out on loan at the moment. Although most will have almost forgotten about one of them.

    Fraser Forster (Celtic):
It's now 17 domestic wins in league and cup for Fraser and his in-form Celtic colleagues, after a narrow 1-0 SPL home defeat of Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday.

Xisco (Deportivo la Coruna): Guess what? he's knackered again and out for the next 2-3 weeks with muscle knack. What a guy.

My guess is Forster will be sold in the summer for about 2.5mill, and no one wil want Xisco so he'll still be sitting here on 50k plus per week.

Forster's a good good keeper and a good investment for anybody. Xisco on the other hand should be called sick note and doesn't seem to be interesting anybody. What you could call an expensive flop.

    What's Xisco's contract length here?

Forster is a very good keeper but I do not think it is realistic to expect him to come back and play 2nd fiddle to Krul. Pretty sure Celtic confirmed just the other day they're in talks to sign him permanently. It'll be a good move for him and he has an outside chance of going to the Euros to be honest, such is the lack of decent keepers. It would be a shame but inevitable. Part of the risk of loans is they then get a taste of playing.

Xisco I just disregard now. Its obvious he wants every last penny of his contract and still can't believe his luck. They got raped on that one but seem a bit more canny these days.

Great to see Vuckic on the scoresheet last night.

    Got this off Wiki.

Xisco - Newcatsle will try to off-load and recuperate wages

Xisco signed a 5 year bountiful contract in late August of 2008, and is one major reason that Kevin Keegan left the club, after realizing cockney Dennis Wise was pulling the strings on who was coming and going at Newcastle.

So Xisco’s contract runs out in the summer of 2013, and he’s therefore only half way through his contract, and we think his intention is to stay on Newcatsle’s books so he can pick up his huge wages through 2013.

That’s his right of course, but it looks like he will do what Marcelino did and pick up huge wages while hardly ever playing for the Newcastle first team.

Newcastle will try to recuperate some of his wages by loaning the player out as much as they can – probably to Spanish clubs.

The news today is that Newcastle have offered the 24 year-old Xisco to Spanish sides Real Zaragoza and Racing Santander on loan.

Xisco is the type of deal that we hope Newcatsle will not do too many times in the future as he cost the club a massive £5.7M and around 50K/week in wages over a potential five years.

He’s appeared only 9 times for the club with one goal that he scored on his debut against Hull City on 13th September, 2008.

If he is on £50K a week (that may be a little high), he will cost Newcastle up to £18M over the five years, and it’s unlikely he will play again for the first team.

Not a good use of the club’s funds to be sure, and not a good signing by Dennis Wise – no wonder Kevin was furious.

Frustrating to say the least. He's the last one (along with Smith- although, he'll be gone by the summer) of our overpaid mercenaries from our relegation season. Still can't believe he's here and I don't think he can either!

that is sickening to be honest, wonder how much dennis and his pals got in backhanders out of this deal.
As much as there is to dislike about ashley at least he seems to have learned from ****up deals like this.

Think it was Wise and Lamearse that came out best over this deal.

That doesn't mention his apperance bonuses, which I think are about 10k per match, plus another 10k per goal. If he didn't have them, I reckon he might've played a bit more for us and might even have turned out into the top player we signed him as.

Another example of how inept the people responsible for the transfer deals were.

Hopefully if were not going to use Xisco, i actually quite liked him.
Especially against Villa he looked quite lively.
I hope he doesn't become a Smith, sitting on the bench or in the reserves taking masses of money for doing sweet F.A :)

Aye but Xisco is turd. I saw enough of him in his fleeting appearances to leave me bewildered at us paying 5.7m. I understand what you mean about Obertan, he is worrying me. Lack of a footballing brain and lack of balls is clearly evident. But I'd rather have Obertan playing than Xisco to be honest. You only have to look at him being a sub for wherever he has gone on loan to understand that we got done like a kipper.

I haven't seen enough of Xisco tbh, am sure he put a nice ball through to Carroll against Villa (6-0) last season but thats all i remember...I would rather have him playing than Ameobi tho, surely he must have something about him...

But Obertan is a dud....we should just get rid, Ok he scored against Blackburn but thats not reason to get off his back, at the moment he is only playing because there is no one else and Pardew wont play HBA there...Pardew claims HBA doesnt do enough graft but everytime he loses the ball (which is less than Obertan) he always makes an effort to get it back...i mean HBA is one of the most technically gifted players we have had and Pardews stubborness wont play him
