Anyone remember this being mooted about a good few years back?

Apparently Sky have in the contract that there must be 4 games against the huns a season........if this fails to be the case due to the ongoing problems with the huns will Sky pull the plug?

Lawwell will have a back up plan I'm sure should they rip up the contract.

It would be quite easy for us to have all the games on our own channel and make a nice profit from the extra subscribers, however, we must take in to consideration other clubs to make Scottish football what it once was.

Can anyone remember the ins & outs of the SPL TV idea? & is it worth looking at again?

The SPL TV idea is a no go for Celtic regardless of whether Rangers cease to exist or not. Not a lot of people are interested in the spl outside of the old firm i.e. average SPL attendances show that there is little interest in scottish football from the country in which the football is played, thus I cant see any other countries showing the same or increased level of interest in a diminishing league <ok>

Rebel, I think we should increase our market as much as possible... creating an spl tv channel would only end up being watched by the people of scotland/ireland, whereas the larger tv companies could ensure that people sustain some sort of interest in the spl. Larger TV companies can plan their spl scheduling times carefully on saturdays/sundays to sustain broad viewing figures because sometimes people just want to watch football regardless of whos playing... As well as needing rangers (in some form), I think we also need sky/espn on our side!

I'm not sure to be honest. I think Scottish football needs to use this as a wake up call to where it stands in the world, Rangers could go in to admin twice and still be one point from second!!

If Rangers go then Dundee Utd, Hibs, Aberdeen, Motherwell will step forward as they have done in the past. If they have a decent player they are lucky to have them 2 seasons before they move on to us or the huns or even to England, hence they have been unable to put up a prolonged challenge. Hopefully with an increased chance of europe they will be able to hold on to their players longer, obtain better transfer fees when they are sold and invest as they have done to continue to improve.

Its the same with TV. We can stick to picking up the scraps from sky & carry on regardless hoping soemthing happens by magic or we can all put our heads together to come up with something to improve the game for all as equals.

Its time to decide what we want. The strongest Celtic possible or whats best for Scottish football <ok>

With or without Rangers we are limited to what we can achieve playing in the spl in its current format.

We either take the bull by the horns and reform scottish football, carry on plodding along as we are or take advantage of what could happen to the huns & piss off to England <ok>
