Mark Hughes is taking his First Team squad to the Algarve this afternoon for a week's intensive training as he looks to make the most of a two-week break in fixtures. With no match this weekend, Hughes is using the opportunity to learn more about his players as he prepares for the remaining 13 fixtures of the Premier League campaign. Owing to the recent freezing conditions, the squad spent most of last week training at Loftus Road, and Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "We're going to Portugal to get some work done because we're struggling at our training ground. "We have had to train at the stadium and we need to give that a break. "It will give us the opportunity to have a couple of sessions a day and have a real understanding of what type of personalities we have and how they react to situations." The trip to Alcantarilha in southern Portugal will also see Samba Diakite join up with his new team-mates for the first time following the completion of the African Cup of Nations. Diakite, who has joined the R's on loan until the end of the season from Nancy, reached the semi-finals of the competition with Mali. Hughes and the squad will fly into Faro Airport this afternoon while midfielder Diakite will join them on Wednesday.
Rewarding them for the ****e we've been watching lately. Perhaps they should go to Auschwitz give them a reality check!!
I would like to see them training at a boot camp on Dartmoor. They need to toughen up both mentally and physically if we are to survive. Gerbil has tweeted that he is sharing a lovely house with Jay and Macheda and that it is nice and warm. Lets hope they come back and earn their 50 grand a week by crushing the Ruperts.
TF should've organised a supporter's break in the Algarve as a refund for some of the shyte we've been served up this season...
Now that is a super idea. Mid winter warm weather break so that supporters can get to know each other and escape from all the stress of being cold and wet. Probably cost less to take 10,000 of us than 25 players with their batmen and ladies in waiting.
A nice bit of warm weather training is just the job,2 training sessions a day a bit of team building in the evenings Mr Hughes using his man management skills to build confidence = Premier League Survival.
Crushing the Ruperts! I love it. I'm so so desperate to beat them. So many Fulham fans I know will get it if we beat them. It's personal this time.
Like it Super! On a serious note, I think its a good idea from Sparky. He knows how to do things properly and in fairness to Big Tony, he doesn't seem to be into penny-pinching.
11 degrees at 6 in the morning is prerrt good. how did portugal escape the **** weather minus 3 in madrid
When was the last time you were able to switch right back on after a few days away from your office or your house, even if the away trip was for work? Regardless of whether the boys will have a curfew and that, you know it's not all going to be hard work. Just seems like a waste of money to me. It's already bad enough that Barton is getting paid an obscene amount of money to lark about on the pitch (and off with red cards ), he now gets a free holiday from the club! And why Portugal? Algarve of all places! Algarves! Why not Southern Italy, Southern Spain, Greece, or Israel? You want the beach, why not go where the sun is nice while you're at it? They'll all be holiday-lagged, food-lagged, beer-lagged, wine-lagged, women-lagged, and then jet-lagged. It's not like some couple-days trip for a UEFA match, there and back between weekend matches. Look at where they're going!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Vacation...ws-Alcantarilha_Algarve-Vacation_Rentals.html Yes and I am jealous
We have a two week break and they're gone for one. Still time to switch back on when they get back Yappy.
Yappy, I don't like saying this about a fellow R's supporter (?????), but you are an ignorant twat. Unless of course all your posts are meant to be ironic and post modern, in which case you are a pretentious, ignorant twat.
I was saying it because somebody else around here was saying something about Taiwo having jet-lag after he came over from Milan and when he played like shyte, so I thought I would use the same joke.
