We signed him almost secretly. Hardly anyone noticed at the time which is why you haven't heard of him. It's bizarre that someone so old* can go completely unnoticed. It's also bizarre that we signed him at all given his age* and having been released by non-league Stockport last season because he hardly played. *I know turning 22 next month isn't old, but it makes him older than the likes of Stewart, Evans and Brady, he's hardly one for the future so I don't see what he's there for.

This is a Barmby signing, so we have to trust that Nick saw something he liked about him. He's been through the Man United and Preston academies and was in a Championship first team at a fairly young age, only a serious leg break screwed things up. I suspect he isn't costing us much and we're taking a punt on the fact that he's got over his injury and will be a decent addition in the long term(he went straight into the Stockport starting XI and has played four games in the three weeks since he went there).
Stockport? Wasn't it ages ago that they were in the Championship? In fact it must have been 04/05 they were relegated. You're not saying he played for them when he was 14?
