Morning, all. Power of Pricewise evident again this morn as the odds on Midnight Game and Vulcanise crumble.

Nass, re Cloudy Lane and the Foxhunters I was at Newbury when he made his hunting debut but it really was a case of Chapoturgeon first the rest nowhere. However, if you fancy him for the Cheltenham heat I’d hold off until after today as he needs to finish 1st or 2nd to qualify (almost certainly will but you never know). This qualification business is going to scupper a few including quite possibly my old fave Barbers Shop who has to run in at least 2 heats prior to Cheltenham and be 1st or 2nd in them...still if anyone can Mr Henderson can!

    Barney,

Today should be a penalty kick, and at 1/5 he should be winning with some style too. He to me looks the kind that will relish a proper test in the Foxhunters and I fully expect him to turn the tables on Chapoturgeon when given a stamina test. He ran well at Newbury in a slow race, and that race did not suit him at all.

Nam - Red Inca is entered up at Kelso tomorrow, to me it looks like they are getting him primed for a tilt at a handicap. He ran on well at Muss, very takingly too.

Yeah I saw the entry. You think they may be prepping him for the Festival? He ran on very well, and I don't think O'Regan reached for the whip either, but like I say he looked pretty green. A quick turnout is a good sign though.

One to note from Saturday too was Yankee Storm who ran at Lingfield, don't know if you saw it? I think he drifted to about 25/1 but was in the process of running a very big race before being very short of room in the final couple of furlongs, but ran on once switched out. Interesting to see what price he turns up at NTO.

Nicholls will have kicked it out of his yard at the earliest opportunity. He doesn't want horses like him, good but not going to win anything big, filling up spaces when he has people queuing up to send him better prospects. I heard the other day that he won't even entertain people as a potential new owner unless they have at least £100k to spend! <yikes> <laugh>

I will watch Yankee Storm this evening, cheers for noting it up.

Nam, I guess it will all depend on the handicap mark, two interesting runs before winning a "weak" novice race is normally a fair suggestion for a Fred Winter horse (if I remember what GDC says with his stats)

Is it a good idea to back a twelve year old (who isn't Kauto Star) in a major event. Cloudy Lane has been a lovely horse for his owners, winning 10 of his 32 races, and being placed in another 8. But age really does weary them. I even looked at his chances of being rolled today. He should win but at 1-5? Special Portrait could just nail the old bloke.

Cyc, the Foxhunters is a very different race to the Gold Cup, even though its over the same course and distance as the big one. The Foxhunters is what I would class as an old stars versus young guns race, we often get winners who have been around for a while in the NH game, and we have seen winners as old as 13 (good old Earthmover) and as young as 6! Its a race that takes some staying and I think we have seen plenty from Cloudy Lane (won the Kim Muir in 2007) to suggest that its exactly what he needs at this time of his career.

It is also worth bearing in mind (and this says masses about Kauto Star) that he (CL) only started his career in 2005 at the age of 5, where Kauto Star had already run 11 times by the same age. Hence why people are so amazed at how long Kauto Star has been going.

So in short, its not the age that will beat him, its ability, and he has the form in the book. Many times over.

    Good morning all,

Not been on for some time, but see that the winners are still flying in.

Two that i like the look of and any advice would be appreciated are:

1.40 Southwell: Gracie's gift who has been placed here on many occasions and at 6/1 worthy of an E/W play.

4.00 Ayr: Mr Woods who i think could be well handicapped as his last winning run was off 124 and is off 95 today. Has had many PU and UR of late but i think has been unfortunate in some of those races. Currently 8/1

    Good luck all.

Also thought it was worth tipping a hat in the direction of Hunterchases.com which is a very good blog/website well worth a read.

GM, Gracie's Gift has to have EW chances and Mr Woods is very well handicapped, two very interesting selections. Good luck.

One of the things Cloudy Lane has on his side too Nass, is that he's lightly raced.

    Morning All,

still going through the cards, but one I do like today is Cheyenne Red in the opener at Southwell and is currently available at each way prices. I sreunited with Makin as the jockey today, who has been up top on 3 of it's 4 wins. The main dangers today to the selection would be Gracies Gift, who is a consistant performer and It'sthursdayalready who should have come on for its run lto.

Later at Southwell, I am keen on JJ Leary, who reopposes Samasana again today but on better terms over a distance that is more likely to suit and with a better jockey in Fallon up top rather than Spencer.

Morning guys and NASS, Happy Valentines Day to my Not 606 Lovers, let me feel your love today. Those looking for a couple of nice priced things at Ayr in going that should suit the mudlarks.

The 4.00 should be a real slog and there are a couple of mudlarks who will love the conditions and make a great go of it, MINISTER SHADOW 33/1 and BORIS THE BLADE 40/1 are well handicapped and will love it here today.

At Southwell MISERE 22/1 (EW) looks well in at the weights and has the very useful Amy Ryan on board claiming 3, drops back to 6f and should go close.

For those looking for a shorter priced type at Ayr in the 3.25 PENTIFFIC 3/1 looks to have a very good chance, while in the 3.50 Southwell CAPTAIN BELLAMY 100/30 looks the one to beat.
