Some of you might have seen this already but the first ever Northern League Day is taking place on April 9th, the day before we play Villa away. The idea was inspired by last year's Non-League Day and the problems that Ryton are having at the moment. The website is here:

    http://northernleagueday.wordpress.com/

Although I've spoken to and have the backing of Ryton and Mike Amos at the Northern League, this is a completely independent initiative from a Newcastle and Northern League fan. Newcastle have loads of links to the Northern League, starting with the fact that East End played in its very first season in 1889 through Frank Clark, Chris Waddle and Steve Harper. As part of the day we're running articles on why the Northern League matters with contributions from True Faith, Leazes Terrace, Mike Amos, George Caulkin and Jonathan Wilson.

I go to quite a few games in the Northern League when the Toon are not playing (I think they call me a ground hopper)
it's a test of stamina really, as I went to see Consett take on S***erl**d RCA in what seemed like minus 15 dgrees temp.
Consett won 3-0 third goal was a cracker.
Been to Ryton about 4 times over the last couple of years, a small ground with a compact pitch, but people behind the scenes with big hearts
Been to Dunston Uts, Ashington, Whitley Bay, Bedlington, West Allotment, Spennymoor, Bishop Auckland, West Auckland, Tow Law, Chester le Street
South Shields, Shildon, Jarrow, Morpeth, Thornaby,Horden, Washington and Whickham along with Durham and Gateshead
You can get to see some really exciting games,
I would recommend to anyone to try it out, only a fiver, with many clubs allowing your kids in for free, which is good as I often take my 12 year old with me
(some have charged £6.00p but I think this is rare)
I can't remember seeing a 0-0 scoreline in all the games I've watch

Durham and Gateshead are more expensive as they are in higher leagues

Head down to Chester-le-street FC sometimes, only down the road from me and it's relatively cheap. Might see which games are on that weekend. Spennymoor matches are also usually canny good as well.

I go see Crawley sometimes... used to be going to a good cause but now I guess they don't need the money!

that steve evans (crawley boss) is a nasty twat, spits more venom than Alex Fergerson, I'm sure I read that he was once banned from the touchline for 9 games with 2 of the games even banned from the ground
