How the hell have they went into administration with the amount of stadium revenues they must make and the comparatively small fees they pay for players? It's crazy.
The famous Ibrox club could face a bill in the region of £49million should they lose their dispute with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). ouch, suppose a loss of points wont effect them too much though. (for the title it will but not for relegation)
Celtic will be screwed. They come as a pair those two. If Rangers go, Celtic can't rely on the income of games against the likes of Dunfermline.
people have beens saying for years that once one of the top two gets into trouble the banks will get scared and recall the loans from all of scottish football destorying it as for dunfermline there a great club
Go where. Administration will wipe out the debts, lose 10 points. Start again. Disgrace. Just look at Porstmouth.
What the hell's happened to Scottish football? In 1967, Celtic won the European Cup and not one of those players was born more than 15 miles from Celtic Park. Top English clubs were queuing up to buy the next Scottish genius - as recently as the 1960s, Sunderland built a team around Jimmy Baxter, Manchester United bent over backwards to sign Dennis Law. and 'Spurs broke the bank to sign Mackay, Ure, &co. That went on until the 1980s, when a third of Liverpool's great side were made up of people like Dalglish and Hansen. If you want to find a prominent Scottish player in England today, you have to go to mid-table Championship clubs. Scottish clubs now have to spend money on foreign players simply because Scotland has stopped producing them. Why? Why?
It's a crying shame to see a footballing institution such as Glasgow Rangers in such a sorry state. Unless your a Celtic fan, I guess they are pissing themselves. They should be careful what they wish for though, as Leazes says, no Rangers (or Celtic), no ****ing league.
Am I alone in not really giving a ****e about Rangers going bust? This is not a pop at rangers, as I couldn't give a ****e about Celtic either, in fact Scottish football doesn't concern me or interest me in any shape or form. Football, like all companies and businesses has to stand on .tr own two feet or go under. If it was Sunderland I wouldn't expect rangers fans to give a ****e either. Football has been so pampered and distant from The realities of the real world that it might take 5 or 6 big clubs to in bust to make the people who run the game wake up.
i agree cest i don't give a toss either, still a shock though. Anyway i was about 2 seconds away from getting stabbed in digby's bar on the day of gary bennet's testimonial so another reason to not give a toss, lol
I remember that day, they were a ****ing disgrace. Gangs of grown men chasing kids down the back lanes around Roker, missiles, aggro everywhere in the City. For a ****ing friendly as well.
I was there too. In the Gluepot bar there was a load off pissed up jocks but I never saw any bother. Heard all about it the next day like.
SPL will end up as bad as the Estonian league if Rangers goes under. No TV company will have much of an interest and European Coefficients will drop heavily.
You lot may not care but my inbox is full, cilvil war up in Glasgow. Told them this one is Micks, a fanaticla Celtic fan, cant see that helping somehow
Let's face it, it's a fine line between success and oblivion... I recall it nearly happened to our cousins up the road before Mr Ashley put a 100m of his own money in to keep them going. Fair does, he has pulled them round financially and given them some stability nd a platform to build on. Wonder where they'd be now if he hadn't personally rescued them ..... Brings us back to the point that clubs must live within their means .... unless you are called Chelski or Mank Citey of course....
Maybe they should stick to just producing Whiskey, and football managers........two things the scots do very well.
