Studied the first race at Wolverhampton a bit.

Like the look of HAMBLETON E.W

Showed plenty of promise last time out and did well to finish 6th considering he raced keenly throughout the race. Did travel powerfully and may well come on for that outing considering he had been off the track for 84 days. He has been dropped 2lbs to a mark of 51 and I feel the drop to 5f may suit. Defs worth an E.W dabble with Coral who are a stand out 11/1

Cheers, but I think it is an open contest but feel Hambleton is the best value in that race, but not really had a proper look yet <laugh>

Don't think that is a good decision by Wolves, more a knee jerk to losing to local rivals 5-1 at home, I think Mick would have kept them up personally and not sure who would want to go in there and take over.

I would love Warnock to go in and then the obvious last day of the season scenario to take place.

Anyone see the demolition job from West Bromwich Madrid yesterday? Aside from that obvious delight, I have a lot of time for Mick McCarthy- one of the few honest lads left in the game, so its not nice to see him sacked.

    Wolves Selections today
2.40 Hambleton 9/1- Quite an open contest in this one and I feel the draw means that Silver Linnet will not be winning today. Therefore I have gone for Hambleton who hails from a yard that is in a bit of form, with the main danger being Sally's Swwansong.
3.10 Hinton Admiral 11/4 - Again, another open contest with some very confusing form lines, and you could quite easily make a case for a number of the runners in this field, and so therefore best to keep stakes to a minimum. The reason for the selection is that I feel it's the most conistant horse in the race.
3.40 Stars In Your Eyes 6/4- I fancy this to beat the Johnston trained newcomer and these two are well ahead of anything else in the betting market at the moment. However this being Wolverhampton, there is always one big priced winner at the meeting and it may also be worth having a small e/won Chhota Naa at 33's.
4.10 Roedean 9/2 - Only the five go to post in this one, and the selections is a good run of form at the moment, but the fact that this distance is probably right on it's limit is reflected in the fact that it is not favourite. Another one worth considering in this race would be Anginola, who won over course and distance two runs ago, has a decent claimer up top and runs in first time blinkers, which may help.
4.40 The Lock Master 10/1 - This is an interesting little handicap with quite a few previous course and distance winners, however, I have chosen to with the Lock Mater as it was finishing strongly LTO and with the winner of that race going in again since, it could be the value call in this race.
5.10 Berlusca 5/2 - The booking of Fallon gives this one the nod for me over Samedi and Luctor Emergo.
5.40 Look For Love 11/1 - Another wide open contest, and the Dart landed here, could quite easily be won by 5 or 6 horses and as such would be keeping stakes low.

Just read Hold On Julio won't run in the Grand National trial at Haydock this Saturday.

I believe Alan King has his eyes firmly fixed on the Festival Handicap Chase on the Tuesday (know as the JLT Speciality Steeple Chase this year) - we know from last year with Bensalem that he is adept at getting one ready for this race and I'm sure he's got his eye on it again.

Anyone think he'll go bigger than 7/1 between now and March 13th? I can see him shortening massively once he is declared (I think 22nd Feb is the decs date)

Good afternoon chaps on yet another glum looking day out there... Just the Wolvers card to go at so if your feeling like having a bet it sort of narrows down your selctions a bit...

It was a busy weekend and a interesting one at that for me, but after a shift that didnt finish untill 4.30 on sat night/sun morn i strangley wasn't ready to go to bed. So in my infinate wisdom i watched the ManU v Liverpool match as i hadnt seen the game earlier. A mistake...!!! I did eventually go to bed and woke up on sunday morning feeling ashamed to call myself a Liverpool fan.

So today i thought i would look at what the general feeling was towards what had happened over the weekend, another mistake. The Liverpool thread of not606 has the misfortune of letting certain 'fans' to start a witch hunt in general of ALL fans associated with the club thats very close to my heart, Liverpool. The vitriol that is being spewed out on some of the threads is just simply amazing and beggers belief. Now from a bloke who has spent a big part his life following, supporting and backing Liverpool to the hilt i now find myself falling out of love for a wonderful game and sport. I find it very depressing that the 'banter' that i have had myself and heard in plenty of pubs up and down this country seems to be hijacked by a moronic few.

I dont call myself an expert on all sporting matters and certainly not when it comes to horse racing. But even if i gave my opinion of which horse may or may not run well i dont get shot down in flames by the good people of this forum. In fact the people on here that i respect for their knowledge and better understanding of all things horse racing applaud you when you get a winner. I have learnt so much from the posters on this forum and will continue to learn and i am grateful to know and take in peoples opinions of a sport that is obviously close to their hearts.

Many thanks to all who do indeed make this Horse Racing forum a joy to be apart of, and may it continue to do so... From a very disheartened football fan...
