Who do you see as our biggest rivals for us finishing eighth? I would say Everton, always finish the season strongly and have added to their squad well in January. Norwich currently occupy that spot, they look good, play good football, can they keep it going. Exactly the same with Swansea. Villa, I'd be disappointed rh finish below them. They have good players but a pants manager IMO. Fulham? Too inconsistent. West Brom will be a big game in 2 weeks. If we beat them we could knock them out of the race if they beat is they are right back in it.
I think 8th should be the target. And we should get it tbh. Don't see us finishing anywhere higher, but you never know under MON!
I still have comments bookmarked on my laptop of some of you saying there's no chance we'll finish 8th I'll post them when the time is right.
I'll be happy with a top half cosidering where we were first 14-15 games in. Also have to consider some games that are tricky which are Everton(A), Man City(A), Spuds(H), L'pool(H) and Manure(H) that's 5 games you could basically wipe out. Points we should gain but not guaranteed are Wolves, Bolton, QPR (H) Blackburn (A). Not sure on are Mag's, Fulham, Villa and West Brom all (A)
I wouldn't write us off in any of our home games, Liverpool can be dodgy. Spurs we can beat up here (may have a new manager, could go tits up) Man Utd are not the team they were. Only really writing off Man City Away - this could see us get a tonking! Everton away is a curse.
Man U is the last game of the season, so I hope someone has already got the title by then and they are still not fighting it out. Or Man U are safe in 2nd place and Spurs cant catch them. If Man U need the win, I just cant see us getting anything at all, If they dont, then I cant see why we cant win that one. Everton Away, I do think we can get something, yes they seem to be coming into some good form, but so are we, they are our bogey team in the PL but that has to be broken sooner or later. Liverpool at home, I am not scared at all, just hope its not fools hope, but they are nowhere near a banker in that one. Likewise with Spurs. I do think next weekend and Newcastle will either set us up for a good season (if we win both), or set us up for just an OK one (lose both or lose/draw), I really cant see us having a bad season now. but for the ? Not a clue, but at a push Newcastle 7th, us 8th. (within 5 points though)
I firmly believe that with the self belief that MoN has & can install in the squad that EVERY game in winnable including Citeh away. Even if we don't win the majority of games left this season I'd challenge anyone to show intelligently why not next season Sunderland wouldn’t be considered a real challenge as opposed to a chance to take all 3 points off them as in the past few seasons. Book mark away 5-1.
I'm not sure if we should worry about league position atm, if we just concentrate on winning every game between now and Man U at home, we should do ok
Pope Jersey the First? Got a ring to it, yeh. A Papal ring, maybe. (PS - I read this twice, but don't fancy a cuppa!!)
Well, my first act as pope will be to canonise Niall Quinn (patron saint of carpet-sellers) and O'Niell (patron saint of balding Irish men who like leaping up in the air)
You couldn't just spread the Catholic church's obscene wealth among the poor? Controversy, luckily it's no longer Sunday.
