You play rugby and you always shake hands before and after, whilst on the pitch you beat the living daylights out of each other.I'ts how sport should be played.I'ts sad that some footballers seem to have become arrogant, nasty arseholes.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on Luis Suarez's decision not to shake Patrice Evra's hand before kick-off, and Evra's celebrations at full-time following United's win: "I couldn't believe Suarez refused Evra's handshake. Suarez is a disgrace to Liverpool football club. He should not be allowed to play for Liverpool again, the history of that club. He could have caused a riot. Racism is an important issue and football has come a long way since the days of bananas being thrown at John Barnes. Evra shouldn't have jumped in front of Suarez in celebration at the end. He shouldn't have done that." Even if he's being sensationalistic, he's dead right. Urgh agreeing with Fergie
But, and I'm merely guessing here, you weren't surprised by it? Rugby isn't the icon of sporting behaviour their staunchest fans (who always compare it favourably to football) think it is: * Nobody has ever faked a injury in football in order to play the substitution rules (as there's three substitutions in football, not unlimited ones - Bloodgate was a conniving scheme to gain unfair advantage) * Nobody has every performed a tackle that could legitimately break an opponent's neck in football (New Zealand and, more recently, Wales have a bad habit of this) * Nobody deliberately incites the opposition when scoring a goal in football, unlike the various players who swallow dive when scoring a try You also don;t see footballers jumping off ferries leaving harbour as a laugh, or driving a gold cart down the M4 at 3am utterly ****faced. Meanwhile, in rugby you also get blatant cheating (especially at line-outs - does anyone throw them straight anymore? - and in the scrum), and now Saracens are off on a money-spinning visit to play the cream of that rugby hotbed that is Abu Dhabi.
Force of habit, because I find rugger buggers to be utterly tiresome when they start up with their "Our ball game is more honest and decent than your ball game" mallarky. But, it has to be said, there's plenty of arrogant gits in rugy - Gavin Henson and Danny Cipriani spring to mind - and the way the Welsh were carping on about Warburton's (justifiable - he could've paraliysed his opponent FFS) sending off in the RWC semi was remarkably close to how Liverpool fans carp on and throw ludicrous conspiracies around. I should know, I've got a Welsh mother and she wouldn't hear a syllable of it as it was all because the ref was an embittered Irishman doing his French wife a favour...
Queen Kenny's post-match interview with that Sky hack journo was an utter disgrace! At one point, it looked as though he was going to walk away, but then he seemed to think better of it. And as much as I detest the Sky journos, I will give credit to the fella for putting the difficult questions to him and forcing the twat to look like he was defending his racist forward, yet again. The BBC interviewers, like Motty, simply wouldn't have the balls to be as persistent as that.
This everybody hates us we don't care nonsense doesn't really wash. If they didn't care Liverpool and their fans wouldn't, (and not for the first time,) excuse the inexcusable. I don't think you realise the damage this business has done to your club's reputation and that of Kenny Dalglish. To be fair, Suarez's reputation preceded him, so nothing is really that much of a surprise. Your club should be a paragon of sporting excellence; you have knowledgable, loyal fans, a great history and you are a giant club. Instead people like Suarez (and even more bafflingly Dalglish) are determined to drag your club through the mud by setting up some sort of siege mentality and not facing up to the fact they have made mistakes. Well the siege isn't working; you have drawn 8 times at your "castle" this season and will probably drop more points there. But hey, carry on believing everybody is against you and not looking at yourselves: It's easy and it suits everybody else just fine.
To be fair, the siege mentality was fostered by that clown Benitez. Towards the end, his post-match interviews were completely farcical and became a comedy highlight on MOTD. Whinger's doing his best to wear the Clown Prince's crown these days, but no one was able to blame the ref for the world's ills quite like the Fat Waiter.
If Wumpole is a Goon, then surely he must be as disgusted by Suarez's antics and Queen Kenny's laughable defence of him, as we are?
I don't hate Liverpool, but I think that those currently leading the club are tainting it's image horribly. The way that this whole thing has been handled must have Ferguson rubbing his hands with glee. Not only has he overtaken them in league titles, but he's managed to get them to destroy themselves too, both on the pitch and off it. Suarez should've been told to be the bigger man and shake Evra's hand. Regardless of who was right and who was wrong, it would've reflected far better upon him and the club than this has.
If that had been a Sunderland or a Spurs player, I reckon both MON and Harry would have condemned the idiot. I doubt Whinger would have done because, as we all know, Whinger only ever sees those things that go against his team, never the dirty, underhand things his own players get up to. This is merely one of the reasons why Queen Kenny and Whinger are universally loathed by fans outside of their own respective fan-bases.
HIAG, I have plenty of reasons to dislike LFC & MUFC, but if I were Suarez, I would not have shook hands with Evra. Nor would you if you knew (assuming he does) that you were not guilty of the charge. Evra following Suarez at the end of the game like that was totally out of order and grabbing Suarez in the line-up before the game started was assault.
