I'm bored with this already. We all know what will happen (or not happen). We also know that it will be a topic of conversation for weeks to come andthat the head honchos of the FA will be preening their egos and believing that they are important.

Breaking News- Garry Glitter has just applied for the vacant England managers job, after hearing two of the players were Young and Bent.

I just hope whoever the new manager is that they are given time...that is an unlikely dream ofcourse with regard to the media.

I agree Capello made errors but feel its harsh just to blame him for the ills of the England team.

Would Redknapp get the same sort of treatment if things went wrong?

Probably - the media have stabbed every other incumbent in the back, so why not him?

He seems to have more mates than most in the press though..maybe due to the fact Redknapp actually gives quotes to the press rather than the usual footballer/manager cliche speak.

Notice Rooney and Ferdinand were quick to want Redknapp in charge and actually said that they would be able to understand him..thought maybe it might be the other way round actually.

An English manager could understand what the players are saying..

    ;)

I think Capello's lack of English was not solely down to his being Italian but was rather due to his not being interested in either the land or the culture. Maldini has learned the language well enough in half the time. Capello did not appear to realize how the role of team captain is seen in this country and its' moral implications, also the point of Terry being innocent until proven guilty does not bare out if you compare it to other similar cases - if, for example, anyone in public service in this country had a charge of racism against them then they would be suspended from duty (On full pay) until the case had been heard. John Terry could have resigned the captaincy himself, Capello could have also taken an initiative at en earlier stage, but neither of them did this, and so the F.A. were absolutely right in this case. As for the choice of the next manager - why do we always presume that a great club manager will be able to step up to International football ? The two jobs are completely different. Fabio Capello's addiction to a 4-4-2 system was no problem at Real Madrid or A.C. Milan because they could both buy the players in to accomodate his ìdeal system. A National team manager should be able to adapt his ideas to bring the best out of what is available. For this reason if Martin O' Neill is unavailable I would look no further than Roy Hodgson - He is the most successfull manager that the Swiss and Finnish national teams have ever had and that counts more than any C.V. gained at club level. If a non British manager were chosen then it should also be someone with International managerial experience like Guus Hiddinck, Marco Van Basten or maybe even Jürgen Klinsmann. All of whom would understand Wayne Rooney perfectly well !

TBF An awful lot of the overseas players actually speak better english than the english players themselves!

Hodgson would be a decent bet but the FA might be put off by his poor spell with Liverpool.

I heard radio interviews with Harry Redknapp and Alex Ferguson. I almost understood one of them but what language does Harry Redknapp speak as it did not sound like english.

If 'Arry doesn't do well in the Euros, he will get the same drubbing by the press that every other England manager has received. Sad to say, it's a lose lose for anyone who takes on the job, because we don't seem to have players that can succeed. I just hope that the FA take this opportunity to find someone who will see this as a chance to wipe the slate clean, out with the old, in with the new...starting from the bottom and building a team that in 3 or 4 years can be doing what Spain and Germany have managed to do...that's my hope...i'm sure it wouldn't happen..this country is far too impatient for success..

Terry Venebles just about got away with it, but bearing in mind how Robson and Ramsey were treated I agree with you in general.
