I heard it was going to be LG - good news if so: massive international company, raise the club's profile, more lucrative deal etc...

Also someone also suggested before the naming rights to SoL could be sold to them, and re-branded as "Stadium of LGht" or something like that. Personally the name of the stadium isn't too important too me, because we can still call it SoL.

The name lost its importance when we left Roker Park

I used to see it like that as well but the SOL has grown on me over the years. I like the fact it's in honour of the miners of Sunderland.

dont get me wrong because I would not go back to Roker but thats where the history was. Now if The LG Stadium of Light brings in cash, fine by me.

But please no KIT KAT STADIUM

Agree with Cyprus about the SOL name growing on him - me too. And I don't have any sentimentality about Roker's history because four of our six league titles were won at the old Newcastle Rd. ground before Roker Park was built (1899).

But I agree with you that something along the lines of LG Stadium of Light wouldn't damage the integrity of the club one bit. I'd go for that. (Mind you, Fridge Stadium wouldn't be all that inappropriate right now either - ha!)

LG Stadium Of Light is not remotely offensive to me.

Like Cyprus, the name has really grown on me, I remember waiting for the announcement, was at midnight, if I remember right, and thinking 'what a ****ing joke'.

    I like it now.

Having a respectable brand name in front of it is no biggie, and if it is LG, the fact that it's initials rather than wording softens it even more.

Money to grow the club is way more important than the naming of a stadium which in reality has no history, as such, to this point.

We've been no better than slightly above average in our time at the SOL.

I think syd is barking up the wrong tree here. With a name like that we'd definitely know we are going to the dogs.

I've never liked the stadium name anyway. It has no real tradition or history anyway.

Syd said no to the Kit Kat stadium so how about the Kit-E-Kat stadium then?
