In the last 15 meetings with Arsenal, Sunderland have alternated with scoring or failing to score; having netted at the Emirates, they should fail to find the net if that run continues. Arsenal have won none of their last three visits to the Stadium of Light, losing once and drawing twice, conceding one goal in each game. The Gunners have won just two of their last 12 Premier League visits to play teams in the north east (W2 D8 L2). Arsenal have won just five of their last 22 away games in domestic competitions (W5 D7 L10). The Gunners have won one and lost three of their last five Premier League games. Sunderland have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League home games and won four and lost none of the five since Martin OâNeill took the helm. The Black Cats have kept three clean sheets in a row at the Stadium of Light. If they keep one in this game, itâll equal their best run since December 2001 when they kept four in a row. Robin van Persie has scored 40 goals in his last 41 Premier League appearances.
some fooking record rvp has, hope it's 40 goals in 42 games after saturday and 3 pts to the home team like
I think Sunderland have been playing really well since MON arrived and it will be difficult for us to break them down. I think we'll need to stick to our game plan whilst Sunderland soak up the pressure and look to hit us on the break. Should be a good game, both teams have found some form again recently and I think it will be a good test of where they both are in terms of their ambitions this season.
Draw written all over it I'm afraid. But I'm not afraid of Arsenal per se, just wary of a couple of individuals. If anyone sneaks a win a feel it will be us.
Pretty sure MON will ring the changes, then bring on what he feels is required during the game. To me we have to target VP and Oxo as if we cancel them out, we will have a canny chance of nicking it.
Should Arsenal score first it wll be interesting to see how Sunderland respond if they really are set up for the counter attack.
I think we will break them down, and score, its just a matter of keeping them from creating chances. Which has been pretty difficult for most teams facing them at the moment.
if arsenal score then i cant see us winning cos i dont think we will be able to score against arsenal, i think we will be tired after weds game, sorry to be negative but i just have a nasty feeling this one may be one we lose.
This is a horrible fixture for us, O'Neill is one the worlds top managers and he's already turned Sunderlands fortunes around, I can see us getting dicked Saturday. I am a pessamist though....
