Are we all missing the obvious?
Why not let Pearce take over for the Euro's?
If it goes well, give him it permanently.
If it goes badly we look elsewhere.

I agree with Peter Coates on the FA committee, Crapello was grossly overpaid and should have gone after the World Cup.
He also said the contracts for future managers should have proviso's about actually doing well in the job! (And not be the ridiculous amount paid to Crapello)

I said this in the other thread.

Pearce for the Euros, which means we dont have a coach for the GB Olympic team, so give that to MON, he will only be it for the summer anyway, and then we get him back.

Why not? I just said MON for the GB squad as I dont want him as England Boss (Well if we had him for 2-3 years then yes and not just 2 months, with his record so far I dont)

Yeah I know what you mean mate, my Keegan answer did seem a bit terse, but I genuinely think he would be the man for that job. (I was distracted playing with my pet skunk. :p)

I demand that the england job goes to an english man, no other british subject should be allowed to be involved in this prestigous patriotic position. I think every Sunderland supporter should lobby their MP's, the FA the BBC and even Lineker and insist yhe england job is for an english manager only.

Best man for the job should get it, no matter what nationality. I never thought Crapello was that man.

I agree with MR on this one, Give to Pearce as he also has knowledge of the under 21's. He could be tempted to promote 1 or 2 to the full England squad which is something Capello or Saggy chops would have been reluctant to do. We need to put the old guard out to pasture. As long as Terry, Cole, and a few others are in the team we will never win a tournament. Out with the old and in with the new.

I find this quite funny, not that I totally disagree with it.

But in 5-8 years time, we will be saying the same thing with these "new" players, we did it before the Golden Generation (Beckham etc) and now we are doing it with the so called Golden Generation, and we will do it again with this generation (Unless we win the world cup with them that is).

You do need a mixture though of youth and experience, you cant just drop all the 28+ players.

Blackcatsteve, if you read my post correctly i said he could/would promote 1 or 2. I am not in fovour of wholesale change but changes need to be made. I think we are all in agreement that over the years England as a football team have been the great underachievers.<cheers>

Was there ever any talk of Peter Reid being England manager during his successful spell?

No for the simple reason Reid would of held his team talks in the French Blackboard in Cleadon Village, not quite big enough for all the FA hangers on.<bubbly>

THE England football team was plunged into a new racism storm last night after Stuart Pearce was named as caretaker manager following Fabio Capello's resignation.
Pearce, 49, had to apologise to black star Paul Ince for allegedly racially abusing him when both were players.

The incident bears striking similarities to the racist rant charge facing John Terry, stripped of the England captaincy pending his court case.

The Football Association's decision to remove the armband from Terry led to Capello quitting on Wednesday.

Pearce, playing for Nottingham Forest, allegedly made the comments to Manchester United's Ince - an England colleague - during a Premier League game at Old Trafford in 1994.

It prompted the Professional Footballers' Association - running an anti-racism campaign at the time - to intervene.

PFA chief Gordon Taylor said then: "Stuart will be ringing Paul to apologise.

"Stuart regrets what he said. It was in the heat of the moment. He wants to make sure everybody knows he is sorry."

It is also known Pearce's brother Dennis is a member of the ultra-Right British National Party, for whom he has stood as a Parliamentary candidate.

Pearce, who will take charge of England for the friendly against Holland on February 29, has made it clear he does not share Dennis's politics.

England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce's alleged race row is a further embarrassment to the FA, whose spokesman Adrian Bevington refused to comment. Chairman David Bernstein called Pearce a "first-class" caretaker and did not rule out a permanent post.

Sorted............just call them and say "sorry"

    How times have changed...

Pearce is a cave man with the tactical awareness that makes Steve Bruce look like Jose Mourinho. He is in no way whatsoever qualified proven or good enough to be England manager. In summary he has done f*** all as a manager.
