Newcastle United visit Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane for a 25th round Premier League match on Saturday 11th February 2012.

Newcastle are in 5th place on 42 points, while Spurs are currently in 3rd place in the Premier League with 50 points .

This will be the 148th time the two clubs have met.

The first meeting came in the old second round (today's fourth round) of the FA Cup in February 1905 with Newcastle drawing 1-1 at White Hart Lane before winning the replay at St James' Park 4-0. To date, the clubs have met 9 times in the FA Cup.

The clubs met for the first time in the Football League in November 1909 in the First Division with Newcastle winning 1-0 at St James' Park and completing the 'double' over Spurs with a 4-0 win at White Hart Lane in March 1910.

Tottenham's first win over Newcastle came in a First Division match at White Hart Lane in November 1912 with Jimmy Cantrell scoring the only goal of the match.

There were further meetings in the First Division up to season 1933-34 with honours generally pretty even.

An FA Cup 4th round match in January 1935 was won 2-0 by Spurs at White Hart Lane with George Hunt (Spurs' record goalscorer until Bobby Smith) scoring both goals.

The next 12 meetings between the clubs came in the Second Division of the Football League either side of World War Two from 1935-36 to 1947-48. These dozen matches were the only League games contested between Spurs and Newcastle outside the Top Flight of English Football.

The 1950-51 season saw Spurs win their first Football League Championship and in the process they did the 'double' over Newcastle winning 7-0 at home and 1-0 away. The 70,336 spectators at White Hart Lane for that emphatic 7-0 win were the largest crowd at any Spurs v Newcastle fixture in history.

Spurs beat Newcastle United in the 1952 Charity Shield 2-1 at White Hart Lane with Les Bennett and Peter 'Spud' Murphy scoring the goals which won the silverware.

The first Football League Cup meeting came in the Semi-Finals in January 1976 with John Pratt scoring the winning goal at White Hart Lane in the first leg but Newcastle winning 3-1 at St James' Park despite a Don McAllister goal to advance to the Wembley Final.

Newcastle United, along with West Ham United, were the first clubs to be promoted to the Premier League for the 1993-94 season and Spurs won the first match against Newcastle in the competition 1-0 away at St James' Park with a Teddy Sheringham goal. The Magpies had their revenge at White Hart Lane in December with a 2-1 win.

An FA Cup Semi-Final at Old Trafford in April 1999 was won 2-0 by Newcastle after extra time.

Newcastle lost their Premier League status at the end of the 2008-09 season but won promotion at the first attempt managed by former Spurs player and assistant manager Chris Hughton. Hughton was sacked under contraversial circumstances in December 2010 and Alan Pardew was appointed as Newcastle's new manager.

Last season's reverse fixture at White Hart Lane on 28th December 2010 was won by Spurs 2-0 with second-half goals from Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale. The return match at St James' Park in January 2011 finished in a 1-1 draw after Fabricio Coloccini had put Newcastle ahead with a fine strike after 59 minutes only for Aaron Lennon to score deep into injury time to salvage a point for Spurs.

During the summer, Spurs signed former Newcastle player (2005-07) Scott Parker from West Ham United.

The reverse fixture at St. James' Park in October 2011 resulted in a 2-2 draw. Rafael van der Vaart opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 40 minutes. Demba Ba pulled Newcastle level three minutes into the second half but Jermain Defoe's 68th minute goal looked like securing all three points. Substitute Shola Ameobi scored a late equaliser for Newcastle.

Former Newcastle United striker Louis Saha joined Spurs on loan from Everton during the January 2012 transfer window.

Newcastle United have won 54 of the 147 matches played so far with Tottenham Hotspur winning 61 and the remaining 32 games drawn.

I think it'll be a tough game on Saturday evening, unfortunately I can only see 1 outcome; and that is a Spurs victory. Even though I think we will battle hard, our high line will be torn apart and I think it'll be 3-1 to Spurs.

I hope not, but Spurs really are a quality team.

It's that stupid high line Pards will play, it'll be out downfall.
Also, Spurs will be buzzing after that dodgy cu-nt got away with murder at Southwark court.

Unfortunately I think it may play out like the Liverpool game, 3-1 :-(

Take anything from this one. We have done alright down there at various times in the past but this will be the best Spurs side we've faced. They have a lovely balance and the summer signings were very astute and made all the difference. The likes of Bale, Modric, Lennon, VDV, Defoe have been freed by the signings of Adebayor and Parker. Both having outstanding seasons. Parker has been immense and does all the dirty stuff, and while I might dislike Adebayor, his hold up play is first class. He sets up a lot of goals. The other one Friedel was another cracking signing in their other problem area.

We're going alright and have more to look forward to with Cabaye and Tiote available after this one, so one last push is need to make sure they come back to a side in good form. A win would lovely, a draw a good result, but a defeat is maybe more likely. 2-1 to them.

I think Cisse and Ba have enough to really attack Spurs hard. My only worry however is who will be supporting them. They can't do it on their own. We need players as intelligent and creative as Ba and Cisse to participate in the attacks and out-smart the Spurs defence. Basic stuff won't work this time round.

Never been a happy hunting ground for me WHL and I would take a point at this moment in time. Someone mentioned that Arrys mind will be elsewhere by Saturday, i hope 'He's' elsewhere by Saturday.

Will Raylor be back? Hopefully Colo et al will keep Saha quiet, tho I think he'll be up for it!

I've only ever been to White Hart Lane once, back in March 2008 when we walloped them 4-1, including an awesome free kick from Geremi which I am fairly sure was the only time he ever made a set piece count for us.

I remember the Spud fans were great craic on the day and we had some fantastic banter in the pub before and after.

Also, Sammy hasn't scored in the League, it was a cup game. Same with Marv's assist as well.

Listening to Pard's presser today, I'm not 100% sure he will start Cisse to be honest. He was kind of talking about being hard to beat first and foremost. But if Cisse doesn't play, and with Taylor's injury who could we put as a 5 in midfield? I'd be shocked if he did, but maybe he might be just thinking of giving Benny one last chance as a no10, just behind Ba, with Guthrie and Perch behind him?

I might(probably am) completely wrong here but I just got the feeling from listening to him, that Cisse won't start on Sat.

Anyone else listen to his press conference?
