I dont know if a similar thread has already been done, but was just wondering who you thought our squads best player has been this season. From my point of view we are a developing squad, so my pick would be Jay Spearing as he has developed massively this season and gives us a really good alternative to Lucas when neccessary, he also embodies the mentality of a club player and will never let his head drop or be dictated by external factors. Of course other players have had a good season: Enrique, bellamy, Agger, Skrtel. Who would be your pick for player of the season so far? and why? Feel free to include youth although it is more difficult to assess as they wont have had so many games at the top level. From the advice of Zingyzongerlanger, reckon it could be more fun to split this into three categories: Best player, Best development and Best youth player. Id go with: enrique, Spearing, Sterling.....
You can have separate categories for this sort of discussion, like as you said...Jay would come under the most developed player. Enricky has really shone in what was a problem area and has been consistent for the most part. Suarez got a few consecutive POTM awards at the start of the season but never really had that much of an impact as Bellamy has done for the last few games...so for me it has to be Bellamy.
From the Club site. Craig Bellamy was today named Standard Chartered's Player of the Month for the second consecutive month.
Has to be Agger or Skrtel for me, both have been fantastic this season, might even stretch that to world class
Value For Money - Bellamy. Made such an impact and was on a free. Surprise- Enrique. Didn't know too much about him but he has exceeded all expectations.
Best Player:Agger. Was a tricky one, our strongest point this season has been our defence and in my opinion that is hugely down to the form of Agger. Not only has he stayed fit this season but he has continuously played well, He brings a lot more to the team than just defending aswell, he often surges forward and plays the ball well out of Defence Best Development:Skrtel. He has always been a good player, but this season he has made the step up from a good defender to a great defender. The silly mistakes and rash tackles are slowly dissapearing out of his game, and he's becoming a rock along side Agger Best Youth Player:Raheem Sterling. He was the obvious choice but anyone who has watched the reserves/youth team this season can see he is head and shoulders above most people in the youth set up, bags of pace and tricks with an eye for goal, definitely one for the future
I think this is a very difficult decision, as there are several big improvers (Agger - fitness; Skrtel - performance; Spearing - best graduate; Lucas - most consistent) and the newcomers, Bellamy and Enrique, have hit the ground running, putting in big (Bellers) or consistent (Enrique) performances. Overall, I'm going for Daniel Agger, not only for his improved fitness, but for the improvement in Skrtel that has been brought from a consistent back 4 and solid partnership. Its not Jocky and Lawro yet tho...
Bellamy for me, my heart sinks when he's not in the squad and I'm elated when he's picked because of the creativity he brings to the squad and match winning ability.
Best player: Would have been Lucas but now it is probably Bellamy or Agger for me. Best Development: Hendo. Did not let the price tag get to him and continues to improve game by game. Best Youth: Don't know much but Sterling seems to be a good nod. Or I can go for the American Pelosi
Best Player: Suarez. We've missed him. I think he'll be as big for us as Cantona was for the scum Best Development: Tie between Skrtel & Henderson. As above Hendo has worked hard and shrugged off negative comments about him from the start of the season. Skrtel has come on leaps and bounds this season. There were times last season when i'd have rathered SOTO playing at the back but this season he has made the CB position his own. Regardless of age, a Liverpool legend like Carra is going to be hard to keep out of the team but Skrtel has done it. Another great thing about Skrtel is that he is only 27 so he has a good 6/7 years where he'll mature in to a fantastic centre back Best Youth: Raheem Sterling. He has to be our most exciting prospect since Michael Owen. I can't wait for him to make his debut.
Daniel Agger for me,consistantly very good, and touch wood only missed 1 or 2 games Suarez,Bellers,Lucas have all spent time out, and Enrique has been below par the last month
From a non pool fan....actually someone who cant stand liverpool. Id say that Bellamy is your best player this season. Cant believe he was a free transfer.
