£8 Million of tax payers money wasted by this idiot, and all he could say was "We've no regrets about pursuing this case because it was vitally important that the facts were put before a jury for their consideration." even Harry's dog Rosie, new this was never going anywhere, yet these idiots at the top, both in the London Police service, and HMRC, continued this wild goose chase, on an easy target, for a poultry few thousand pounds, yet they are completely inept at bringing the real corporate crooks to book, who are costing this country billions. How the hell can it be justified in wasting this level of money, simply to hear what a jury would decide! clearly there was no one of any intellectual capacity, at the top, that could see that, this was not justifiable in proceeding. The incompetence at the top in this country, has now become staggering in it's proportions, Harry must have seen these idiots coming a far off, well done Harry, new this would be the outcome. Rant over!...........

Outside, Redknapp, still emotional, said: "I must thanks the fans at Tottenham, especially the other night. It really has been a nightmare, I've got to be honest. And this is a case that should never have come to court. It's unbelievable, really." He said waiting for the verdict had been "horrendous … But it was a unanimous decision, absolutely unanimous – there was no case to answer." Well said Harry!...................

Im not suprised by this verdict at all, or the HMRC who are a complete joke, file a tax return late and they want to screw you good and proper yet companies like Vodaphone who owed the HMRC £6 Billion quid take HMRC bosses out for lunch and negotiate paying tax of about £1b instead, over lunch ffs!!

Thats OUR HMRC thats letting companies off like Vodaphone and many others, the amount of Taxes that could and should be collected from corporate is running into 100's of Billions of pounds, and they talk about austerity!!

New World Order people, start getting wise to the enslavement that has been taking place for years. It wont stop until we are back to poverty from middle class and down.

well - the whole justice system is crocked. Look at that MP who recently resigned due to his mrs's taking his speeding ticket. Met police spend 8 MONTHS!!!!!!!! investigating this.

No wonder this country is in such a mess!

Nobody likes HMRC, including me but let's be honest it goes with the territory. Bit like traffic wardens. I've had terrible run-ins with them myself. They're like a pack of rottweillers.

But if there wasn't any evidence this wouldn't have got near the Crown Court I can tell you. Cases these days are micro-managed by the presiding judges and it would have been discontinued before trial or dismissed at half time if there was nothing of substance to put before the jury.

He's been acquitted and that should be the end of it. That's the way it works, guys. I despise HMRC but to be fair it's oh so easy to come down on them for pursuing this with the benefit of hindsight. The verdict way well have gone the other way, you know.

The verdict might well have gone the other way, and that would have been a tragedy in my view, but simply putting funds in an off shore account does not in itself constitute tax evasion, hell half the country have accounts abroad, am I on my own, in thinking, Harry would never have been convicted! I've sat on a Jury many times, and looking in on this case, I could see that HMRC, had the weakest of case against Harry, anyway I'm glad he's been vindicated and found Innocent, of all charges, but I still think that some heads should roll for this complete wild goose chase, which has cost the tax payer Millions needlessly................

i dont know why you're all complaining, you're all on benefits so its not your money that was wasted! (joke)

but seriously, big companies do all they can to avoid paying tax, people like philip green and businesses like tesco call it 'tax efficiency' and blame high rates of tax, bollocks to that they would be doing it even if taxes were much lower, it seems theres nothing the government can do about it <ok>

DPJ - get real. If the HMRC only pursued cases that had 100% certainty of success they wouldn't prosecute anybody. Hindsight is wonderful isn't it? The allegation was more than just 'putting it in an offshore account'. It was that it was done dishonestly, to avoid paying tax on it. Jury didn't buy it, and that's that.

You going to criticise the police for prosecuting cases that result in NG verdicts? Happens all the time.

[And don't mention the Lynette White case, which stinks to high heaven]

Harry was an easy target, just like the motorist is, simple! but it's not hindsight, as some well new that harry would never have been convicted even before it got to court, why is that, even posters on the Spurs board, thought the same, complete wast of money in my view, and might I add by many others, HMRC simply do not have competent enough people at the top, that much is obvious to me!..................... <ok>

So the evidence as you put it, was so overwhelming, that not one member of the jury thought he was guilty!!! Get real you say, I think someone else needs to get real!.................. <laugh>

I think that if there is a serious allegation of a crime then it needs to be investigated and if that means it has to go to Court to find out the truth then so be it. Court is a place where Law is practised to prosecute people and defend people. If we used that logic Phil then all of the defence lawyers would be out of a job and we'd have never had 'Rumpole of the Old Bailey'!!!
