Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric have been cleared of all charges of tax evasion.

At the end of two days of consideration, a jury found both men not guilty at Southwark Crown Court.

    More to follow...

    Oh well...how wrong we were.

Both Harry Rednap and Mandarick have been found not guilty of all charges. It goes to show if you have loads of cash for a good defence lawyer then anything is possible.

It looked to me (without following it mega-closely) that the prosecution team was not on their 'A' game at all.

Agreed, especially when they use the News of the World as their main prosecution evidence

It is stupid considering the the amount of tax they would have evaded based on the amounts in question, even if they had been guilty.

200K in total, maybe 100k tax at the most, but 8 million coming out of the tax payers pocket in order to fund the court case.

The entire case was farcical if the best evidence the prosecution has was "he told a news of the world reporter". In a criminal case, you can only find someone guilty if it proved beyond reasonable doubt. How did the prosecution imagine they would get anywhere if they had no concrete evidence?

    What a waste of money

    From BBC blog/article

    CONCLUSION

Nobody who sat through all the evidence will be surprised at the jury's verdicts. The prosecution's case appeared to be flimsy at times. In particular, the prosecution never had an answer to a question that Redknapp and Mandaric asked over and over again. Why would two men who had paid so many millions of pounds in taxes over the years try to concoct such an elaborate fiddle in order to save such a relatively small sum of money? After an investigation which lasted nearly five years, both Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric have finally cleared their names.

First of all, I'm not surprised that 'slippery Harry' has wormed himself out of prison: the ordinary man in the street wouldn't have stood a chance..
Secondly, the cost of out legal system is nothing short of scandalous and is urgent need of major reform...

This isn't taking into consideration any previous withdrawals the dog made.

This stinks, no one goes abroad opens an account in their dogs name for anything other than nefarious purposes.

Then claim they forgot they did it!

These small amounts would set the average person up for life!

Like Reg, the costs involved in the case are obscene and in no way correspond to the actual work done.

I do hope the muppets who failed in the prosecution are hauled over the coals.

May have misheard but I believe the £8 mil was for a number of cases (5) where every one has failed.

Is someone to be held accountable for this?
