Watching Swindon take on Barnet tonight on Sky, they are very impressive both defensively and up front. I remember Di Canio's name being mentioned for the Leeds job and whilst I would agree it is still early days for him as a manager, the way Swindon play is very impressive and he gets them to work very hard throughout the game and I understand also at training. He appears to prefer the players running with the ball during training, as opposed to just running around, so that they gain confidence with the ball as well as the different physical improvements this level of training can bring.
I am also impressed with the Swindon captain, Paul Caddis, he's 23 and plays either right back or right midfield. Formerly with Celtic, he is also captain of the Scotland U21 side. He's got good positional awareness, can pass the ball, has good technical ability and can cross the ball.
I understand Ipswich made enquiries about Caddis in January, but nothing materialised, perhaps the £200,000 price stated scared them off!

Would be a massive step up for him, could he cope?

Everything points in the right direction though, and he's a card aint he <laugh>

Think we could do with going for more a proven manager, but we could do a lot worse.

Sorry lads, PDC has stated that he wants to stay at swindon, he has a great relationship with our chairman and board and he really loves us"the fans". Have a look in the Observer or the Independent, they have a great interview with him and you will be surprised at what he says about England and english football. Also "Mr Bates" has already taken 2 of our managers in the past and i know our Chairman and board will fight tooth and nail to keep PDC.

I have to be honest and say that PDC (as you call him) would not be my own choice for manager at Leeds, purely based on not particularly liking him as a person when he played for Celtic, but he has done exceptionally well at Swindon and it will have been noticed by the bigger clubs. There has been other players who have taken over the management at a club in the lower divisions and done well, only to fail at the bigger clubs, Ince and Di-Matteo spring to mind, so perhaps PDC should remain at Swindon for a few seasons and get the management experience he needs (including the dip in form and poor results period, that always occurs) and then start to look at a bigger club to develop further at. What about Caddis though, he looks the part and mus be watched by other clubs on a regular basis?

don't believe Di Matteo failed at a bigger club...did well with MK Dons which got him the west brom job...got them promoted and he didn't have much of a chance to see where he could take WBA as he got the chop due to newly promoted clubs ****ting their pants re: relagation and getting an experienced manager in, in this case Hodgson...eho knows Di Matteo could have also kept them up

Di Matteo's sacking at west brom was hugely harsh. He wasn't doing badly at all so when that happened I was surprised but I still dont want him as Leeds manager. Think hes a bit of a nothing manager to be honest, we need a really strong character I think.

    Not Warnock though....
