just wondering with the temperature expected to be below zero, will the match get the go ahead, as not just the pitch but the conditions outside the stadium and surrounding streets, roads, e.g. ice. Really hope it's on like

No chance of it being off...Undersoil heating, and with the weather forecast being dry, ice should not be a problem in and around the stadium...

TONY MOWBRAY has warned Sunderland they will not scare his young Middlesbrough team tonight.
Mogga hopes a 25,000-plus Riverside crowd will stun the in-form Black Cats and set up a fifth round FA Cup clash with Arsenal.

Boro's key men Barry Robson and Marvin Emnes are injured.

But Mowbray, who has not won any of his last six Championship matches, is backing his young guns.

The Riverside chief, set to give 19-year-old forward Curtis Main his first start, said: "We know we can compete.

"With total respect, we are playing Sunderland, not Arsenal who can put 50 passes together.

"We know Sunderland's team. It is what it is.

"I don't expect Martin O'Neill to throw in a load of kids, even though they have Arsenal in their next league game.

"Martin only ever looks to the next game, not the one beyond it.

"We know how Stephane Sessegnon plays and we have got to say he isn't going to get a kick.

"It will be good to have a bigger crowd and I hope that will push us on."

This is like the comment he made after we beat WBA in the promotion year. It went some thing like the best team lost and we all know who will score more goals play the better football and get more points and it wont be the team that won today.

He was a tit then and he still is and he will be wrong again!

This is what the nice Mr Mowbray said that year.

"I want to be gracious in defeat but I know who was the better side on the day - the team with more control and trying to force the game.
"Sunderland are a very organised, defensively set up team and you've got to give them credit for that.
"But over the next 10 games I would suggest we will end up with more points than them because of the way we play. We will score more goals than them."

We ended up on 88 points (Champions) they got 76....We scored 114, they got 111...<laugh>

MARTIN O’NEILL is relieved Sunderland can unleash a fresh Fraizer Campbell at Middlesbrough tonight.

Campbell is likely to return to the Black Cats starting XI at the Riverside for the FA Cup fourth round replay after being left on the bench at Stoke City on Saturday.

Sunderland manager O’Neill felt it was too much for Campbell to feature for a third time within a week after returning to the first team following a 17-month gap.

It proved the perfect game for the 24-year-old forward to miss, with the snow conditions making running with the ball largely redundant and Sunderland securing a fifth win in six matches without needing to introduce the former Manchester United man.

O’Neill told the Echo: “Fraizer very much comes back into our thoughts tonight.

“I didn’t really know what the conditions would be like at Stoke when I made my decision.

“But eventually it worked out fine.

“We’ve been able to give him a bit of a rest, although when you’re a substitute it’s not as if you’re removed completely from things.

“I’m hoping that the rest will have helped him.

“I took into consideration he’d had two games in quick succession before Stoke and I took on board the views of our medical staff here.

“At one stage, he nearly got on when I didn’t think David Meyler was going to get up again from a challenge in the second half.

“But I was pleased we got through the game without risking him.”

David Meyler took Campbell’s place to form a five-man midfield at the Britannia Stadium, with the Irishman the obvious contender to miss out tonight despite impressing O’Neill on his first start of the season.

“I was very pleased with him,” added the Sunderland boss.

“The lad’s had horrendous injuries to contend with and he’s just fighting his way back.”

Fraizer Campbell is keeping a focused head on his shoulders as he continues to ease himself back into first-team action.

The striker scored in his first game for almost 18 months against Middlesbrough recently, following up with a spectacular strike against Norwich last week
.
Campbell, who suffered two serious knee injuries, dropped to the bench against Stoke last weekend and was an unused substitute as Sunderland battled to a 1-0 win at the Britannia Stadium.

And he's happy to continue building things slowly with a busy schedule facing Martin O'Neill's side.

"I am still keeping level-headed and taking things one step at a time," he said.

"I don't want to play too many games at this stage and we are monitoring my knee and taking things really slowly. I don't want to be back where I was 18 months ago.

"It's going to take me a while to get back into the groove. Other players can keep playing and playing, but at this moment in time that wouldn't be the best thing for my knee or for me as a player."

Campbell is hoping to be in the squad which will make the short hop to Teesside tonight to face Middlesbrough in an FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round Replay.
The striker's goal earned Sunderland a second shot at Boro following an evenly-contested first tie on Wearside.

"There'll be no surprises for us," Campbell said. "Middlesbrough are a good team who really came at us at the Stadium of Light.

"We won't go down there thinking it's going to be easy. We will have to start the game better than we did in the first tie and if we do that then hopefully we can come away with a win.

"I know we have a lot of fans going down there - it should be a good atmosphere and as it's a derby we know there will be plenty of passion."
