Get the message, if nobody has PM'd you the new web address, it means they don't want you there.

(Yes, I have membership on the new site and yes, somebody did post the web address in a PM to me - that's got to piss you off)

It would be a shame if the forum died, but I doubt it will happen, those who have chosen to leave will be replaced by new posters who will become familiar over time.

I think it is wrong to assume things should be taken with a pinch of salts, some of the things posted on here have been pretty vile, it can only be ignored to a certain point, let's not forget, we had fifteen year olds posting on our board.

The point about the 'Mag Free' threads, that was very short lived, lots of the decent Sunderland posters disagreed with that concept, the fact that we did have some decent Banter threads after that shows it had little or no effect.

While I sympathise LTF, you have to realise when you join any forum, its open house most of the time. This forum has always been this way by all accounts so should not have to change to accomodate our needs. If we want to join we have to accept what it is. Obviously stuff got out of hand towards the end but a lot of it was brought about by getting upset over Speedgate. If you can't accept people making jokes about the dead then you're gonna struggle in life. Personally I didn't find it funny because he was a legend to me, and I didn't pass on the jokes I received. But I wouldn't have went moaning about what they were posting on GC. End of the day I've laughed at jokes about dead people I've had no sort of association with (Jacko, Winehouse amongst others).

Fair enough when the cross threads etc started and the posting of unsuitable images on the NUFC board it was out of order, but it did all spring from the initial righteous behaviour of our board telling them what is and isn't acceptable simply because it was sensitive subject ot us.

I think not606 will be fine and so will the new forum. There is no reason they can't co-exist and I'm sure many will end up with accounts on both, myself included.

 

Think it would be a shame, as I've said on here last night I think people will come back in time, though I know some of the members won't return and can understand why, as I was disgusted with the actions of some of the GC lot. We still do have a 15 year old poster which I wasn't aware of until yesterday. Also if people ignore the GC board and Syd's request get listened to there won't be any problems from GC.

 

To be honest, I rarely post on here now as I have moved over, however I think you will find a new breed will come in and become the new regulars .

 

Think it will never get to the same level again, though I've noticed since people moved over that neither site seems to have as many articles that I don't look at, as we used to have here. So hoping that we can get a nice level between both boards with them being successful.

You are right. Mick is spending a lot of money now to resolve this cross board thread abuse and soon the mods will have the ability to remove threads regardless of which board they are posted on.

I've officially moved over and while it isn't for me to give out the address as I'm not a mod or anything, I feel like someone should say that everyone doesn't need to get worked up about not getting invited. Its not like it's some sort of of weird cult or exclusive club, it's a forum for genuine toon fans and as a result obviously the owner/mods are gonna be wary about giving out the address to someone not as well known on here by them in fear of the site being overrun by mongs and ending up dead as hector just like this place.
