Because Liverpool were unable to secure all the points at Anfield against Tottenham last night makes this fixture more important.Losing away to United may not necessaily end Liverpool's hope of finsihing in the fourth position but would seriously dent it. Manchester United on the other hand, coming back from 3 goals down to get a draw at Stamford Bridge last Sunday would not like to fall further behind against Manchester City. Luis Suarez coming back from eight match ban last night is going to be at least on the bench for this game. I cannot see many goals in this, and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish vs Sir Alex Ferguson is going to hope for at least a draw from this game:while Fergie is not going to be satisfied with a draw knowing that if City are able to win against Aston Villa on Sunday is going to dent United title hope further. This going to be very difficult to call.Your guess as good as mine.
I doubt Suarez will start on Saturday. I think Kenny will flood the midfield with Carroll playing as a lone striker for at least the first half.
Another 1-4 would be nice, but that would mean United missing one of their standard 2 penalties per league game.
It also avoids all the "handshake" nonsense. If Kenny wanted to WUM United he could play Suarez as captain
I think ok this is not the offical thread but the OP is very good and to the point. both clubs have to get a result, i think we are under more presusre for that result than utd. Utd have a chance to put pressure on city by winning and going TOP, if utd only draw then city are free on sunday to play and win, or even just draw and stay top. I think utd will want badly to put that pressure on city. Liverpool by no mean have it handy in the next league matches and 4 point down with newcaslte looking solid, arsenal having RVP... well we need every point we can get. 0-0 sounds about right Utd will have thier team looking much stronger this time round and with the team they can put together LFc will jsut have to go 4-5-1 and hope, i expect the same 11 as started with the spuds unless enrique is back instantly.
we won't know til friday if the match is treated the same as all others..... If its "special" we should hear today/tomorrow latest.
Hello Daveunited. I've been wondering where you are. I was starting to get worried. How're Dave and Davina?
No. That would be unfair. He's clearly only a youngster. He isn't ready for that degree of dread knowledge yet
That would certainly clear up any ambiguity over whether the FA Panel's report was honest - Does Evra really think Suarez is NOT a racist? Wait for the handshake. If its friendly, the Panel weren't lying, if no handshake, they're liars, if its 'grip hands to ensure the big flemmy gob doesn't miss', the FA are liars with big cherries on the top...
anyway you cut it they should just have "thrown down" like ice hockey and be done with it.... in fact if evra was given a "free shot" i'd make suarez take it like a man. there's no such thing as friendly in a big match, afterwards whatever.... before player need to be i nthe zone, nobody could be reasonable and expect evra to be distracted by deciding on handshakes or playing nicey nicey. really both men could have gone and done a joint interview on jermey kyle...
On the face of it 2 points from Utd and spurs wouldn't be awful but 4 would be immense. Cant see Luis starting, didnt look fit the other night.
