On Saturday we play a team still thought of has a big team who are on the back of a 7-1 win. We go into the game on the back of a fantastic run in the premiership. We now have a team who win or lose we can be certain will give their all. With an away game at Stoke and then Boror behind us, games the vast majority will have not gone to, we cant say well there have been a lot of games. We have a manager who I would assume everyone is behind. SO Can we have any excuses for not having a 40k plus crowd, indeed it should be a full house but will it?
I live 300 miles from the SoL, so I'm not in a position to comment on folk who don't turn up every week. But we got an average in the mid-40s under Reidy, so 40+ is a sensible target for the arse. At the very least.
I live over 150 miles away and usually only go to away games really but I have to say I'm tempted! It disappoints me to see the low attendances and it's clearly a legacy of the McCarthy, Wilkinson era. People just got out of the habit, lost the faith, found other things to do.
and I fully understand location and finanace problems but we can fill the place for some games and yes the away fan following counts, thats why I'm only looking for 40k
I also live 300 plus miles away and not often in the NE. My next door neighbour is a proud Gooner, as are his sons, cracking family and we are aiming, if results go our way to have a weekend away for the next round of the FA Cup. Cant make this weekend but lets hope with the Boro on Wednesday and progress, we will be there.
It will depend on the f a cup replay, because our season would finish on wed night if we lost to Boro and that would be a disaster when you think the form they are in, we may finish 8th, which would be good.
How anyone connected with Sunderland can say this, is to my mind disgusting. We still have 14 league games to play which means 42 points up for grabs. Should the manager and players ever have this attitude then we may as well pack up now. I appreciate your entitled to your opion as i am mine and yours is ****e.
If we manage to take 3 points then I think we've got as much chance if not more of making Europe than Arsenal. Might sound a tad over-ambitious, deluded (Just depends which part of tyne/wear you are from) but we'll be absolutely buzzing throughout the whole club if we beat Arsenal whereas the fans are on the players, managers and boards backs, not exactly what you need to boost confidence.
Well I'm travelling up from Manc for me first home game since 3-1 spurs and Zenden. Only 2 away games in that time too.... Oh the shame. But there is method in me shirking. Me brother has been saying for weeks "I should get down and see them really" due to our good form. So I've bought the tickets and take him hopefully get him going regular again and maybe feel a little less like a treacherous tw*t for no going to the game as I have effectively contributed 1 to the attendance each week, hows about that then? EDIT : And yes I reckon we will easily get 40K on saturday
Sadly I will not be there due to attending a very posh doo on Friday night - will not be fit to drive the 160 miles until Sunday probably. I will be there in spirit though. Next game for me is the QPR game in March - taking the burd (not Marge) to her 1st game, so there will be 2 extra ones that week (see you in the Isis before the game). Bart
