No,it's not.IndyCar is better than Formula 1. They race on ovals, street circuits(very bumpy) and normal circuits. F1 races are on very smooth surfaces, never bumpy ones. They never races on ovals.
F1..? IndyCar..? Nascar..? Pah..! All 4 wheeled sports, and hence inherently boring. Motorcycle racing is where it's at. Any formula will do, be it MotoGP, Moto2, WSBK, WSS, TT, etc... Anyone who prefers car racing over bikes generally prefers it because they don't know how to ride a motorcycle, or have never been near one [I'm sure there are exceptions], because they were told bikes were dangerous, when they were younger. And they're right, bikes are. Anyone can ride a bike though, but it takes a skilled rider to pilot one safely and fast. That's real satisfaction. And watching gods of two wheels make their machines go to the limit, as the overtake back and forth, several times during a single lap out of perhaps 30, is awesome [and I hardly ever use that word]. American Football is a bit of fun and it looks good. Baseball is just Rounders played in front of a lot of people, by players being paid an awful lot of money.
Something like this then Dan?
I don't like any racing sports, but Indy Car is by far the worst, the fact that you say it is good because they race in an oval just proves how simple you are.
It would likely be not dissimilar to how they finish now in all honesty. Many moons back prior to the race, a lot of the drivers would have a support race in identical BMW M1's which was always pretty interesting. Indycar is a decent series, though the technical excellence and superior drivers make F1 that much more special for the purist.....as we were saying before, American sports tend to be for those with a shorter attention span, and Indycar does fit better into that category than F1.
You can see why cricket died out early in America. Five days with possibly no result..their heads would explode.
If you put 90% of F1 drivers in indycar they wouldn't last more than 4 or 5 races, they would get too scared.
So? It doesn't make it a good sport. If I wanted to watch people drive round in circles for ages I'd walk down to my nearest roundabout.
Do you really want to get into the comparison of US drivers success rates in F1 in comparison to European drivers converting to IndyCar?? It's indisputable the F1 drivers are better than their Indy counterparts. Not even worth arguing. The majority of non-US / European drivers currently in Indy are there because they couldn't get an F1 drive, or did and were not good enough. They're also dominating the sport there at the moment - Franchitti, Power, Dixon etc etc. The fact that Takuma Sato is able to be seen as reasonably quick in that field shows your position up as nonsense, and that's before we even think historically about the likes of Michael Andretti - so good in Indy, so very, very found out in F1..... Yes, there are exceptions (Mario, Emerson etc) but they are the exceptions proving the rule.
Lol...It's not like going out for a sunday drive . The physical demands are immense in case you didn't know.
Montoya wiped the floor in F1. In formula 1,it's all down to how fast your car is,very little skill involved to be honest.Indycar requires skill, you need to know how to drive on three different circuits. Franchitti would win F1 with one leg behind his back, easy.
Hmmm.....as I suspected you have no idea what you're talking about. Montoya wiped the floor in F1 ? Sorry, when was that!!! He proved himself quick and good at overtaking, but in the end wasn't good enough. He did better than the extremely limited Ralf Schumacher at Williams, then was beaten by Kimi Raikkonen when he joined McLaren (and yes, you can make team mate comparisons fairly). Franchitti would win F1 with one leg behind his back? So why after a year of testing with them did Jaguar not offer him a race drive and his chance in F1? Because he wasn't good enough......... You're really should check on history and reality to be honest! It's a given fact that all but the most blinkered or idiotic of the motor sport community know. F1 is the pinnacle technically and for drivers. It's just, to quote Rafa, fact.
