Just wanted to say ... in the time since Fernando Torres scored his last Premier League goal, Robin Van Persie has scored 19.

I thought it was a faze that Torres was going through but he REALLY looks bad nowadays and against Manure he was El Stinkio. Not only has his confidence gone but so has his pace. He's only 28 and his pace has already gone! I remember seeing a situation where it was him and Evans and Evans took the ball away from him like he was a 5 year old. He sometimes looks like he was running in a tar pit at times. BLOODY shocking how a man costing £50m can look so awful......

I would say qudos to Liverpool for selling such garbage to Chelsea for so much, but they outdid themselves with that big lump, Carroll. Can you ever imagine Wenger pulling of such rubbish transfers, no way!

I'll be able to laugh at this when Van Persie goes off to Barca/Real at the end of the season

If he goes, there will be huge uproar from the fans if a replacement isn't signed and I think Matias Suarez or whoever could do a decent job.

If RvP were to leave, then i'd prefer a big name, someone who strikes fear into the opposition. No offence to Suarez, he's playing well for Anderlecht, but he isn't what we need. Assuming we get 35 million for RvP (he's not too far away from being 30. hence the low price), i'd prefer somebody like Edinson Cavani.

We only got him that cheap because he had disciplinary issues, and fell out with his old manager.

    He still is.
You're posts are always soo negative.

    just a few recent examples...

    Vermaelen for £10m.
    Gervinho for £10m.
    Arteta £8m.
    Bakari Sagna £6m
    Mertesacker £7m
Wojciech Szczęsny - free (or minimal payment).
    Adebayor for £7.5m.(sold for £26m)
    Nasri £12m (sold for £25m)

Oxo will prove to be a massive bargain and I've got a feeling that when Joel Campbell gets his work permit he will prove to be an absolutely top class buy.

This is proof that you can run a club successfully without throwing your money like it's water. It's just a shame that we live in times where the billionaire and the dodgy (Barca and Real), are kings. The problem is, to fully justify our model, we need to start winning stuff soon, otherwise our best players will continue to leave us. Hopefully with the fair play rules in place and with more investment from the tight wads up top, we will see a winning Arsenal again.

Torres has scored 2 more goals against Chelsea than he has for them.

The thing is I think our model would have worked if we had'nt cashed in on soo many top players over the last 7 years.

I think with some of the younger players coming through, we should have the potential to challenge once again. But the big IF is Arsenal keeping our best players over the next 5 years.

Everyone will agree that this will be Wenger's last bite of the apple. If we lose any of our top youngsters - Shez, Wilshere, OXO etc, then our model would have failed, Wenger would have failed. The last thing we want to become is a selling club.

Absolutely. The difference is, the youngsters are now more English than before. English players don't tend to move abroad - I can't think of any decent English players playing overseas at present save Joe Cole?

Chesney seems to love the club, Gibbs, Jenkinson are in it for the long-term, Song is a dedicated family man and will stay long-term, Wilshere & Ramsey will stay as they're British, Theo hopefully will sign a new deal & Oxo has years left on his contract. That's a decent list of players who should be around long-term.

I agree a lot of them are more likely to be loyal to the club. But there is no guarantee that our best players won't be swayed by the top prem teams if we continue to win nothing. Top players will always want to win something...
