That at least implies he should have had till the end of the season then. Either way, he was given the choice 'dream job and lie or get fired and regret not trying my best for the club I love'. I can understand the decision he made. So you're now saying Bates would be patient and supportive if Grayson had snubbed his directive? Do me a favour. Because he was the best thing to happen to Leeds United in years. I can look past a couple of indirect Bates lies he had to spout. I've never defended his every move. Criticized him heavily for his reaction to the Howson sale which was needlessly sycophantic and also over his affair which doesn't say a lot about his moral outlook. But like I say, I look at the bigger picture. Shame Grayson haters never did that with their short-sighted focus which always seemed to preclude the Chairman from their criticism.
Leeds-18, I do think he shoulda been given till the end of the season (or sacked before the transfer window). You don't sack someone the day after the transfer window
Charlie Sheen - Mainly because he can get high when he wants, drinks when he wants and isnt afraid of being remixed!
My take for what its worth. Bates will keep Redfearn for possibly the next 3 games and see how things pan out but if we get beat badly against Brightonthen he will be replaced immediately . Secondly Jones 750k a year forget it period no its War4nock or Redfern don,t be tempted into betting on anything else especially Lee am I the greatest manager Clarke who in my opinion is totally useless and the sooner Dean Hoyle realises this the better the chances of Draw Town getting up!
Josh, the amount of hypocrisy in your post is just too much. You're criticising those for defending Grayson's every move... yes, maybe it appears I am doing that, but because anything he did wrong that can be used as justification for his dismissal can be explained logically by the financial constraints and egotistical nature of that megalomaniac in charge of our club. The hypocrisy comes from you defending every move Bates makes blindly, a man who cannot be trusted to wipe his own ass, never ever admits fault, instead coming up with some contrived reason to shift the blame, and has no respect for anyone who disagrees with him. Those who disrespect people solely on the basis of not having the same point of view often go by a different name although I've forgotten what it is... oh that's right, DICTATOR.
Stage 1- SG wants/needs a player Stage 2- Bates says fine as long as hes free (and therefore, in most cases, pretty rubbish) Stage 3- The player puts in several awful performances Stage 4- SG has to panic buy to replace the bad player Stage 5- 'Deadwood' is built up in the squad, and no club wants to take them off our hands This wouldnt happen if bates just gave the manager enough budget to sign some decent players! BATES OUT! Copied this off another thread I posted it on. I think it explains why graysons squad had alot of deadwood in it.
I dont believe I do defend bates blindly, I have often criticised him and even in that post I criticised him for the timing of grayson's sacking (mainly because it was terrible). I actually think I am one of the few that judge things on there individual circumstance and not take my dislikes or likes of the person into consideration when deciding whether that was the right decision or not. Most people decided they dont like Bates from the start and since have decided everything he does regardless of what he does is wrong and should be done differently whereas if he makes a stpid decision/comment I say so but then when he makes a good decision/comment my judgement isn't clouded from the previous bad decision (if that makes any sense whatsoever, I just got back from a Mexican restaurant where I had toooo many tequilas)
Spot on Josh, I'm no Bates fan, but you dont get to where he is by cocking everything up. Sure he is out to make what he can, thats what he does for a living, but too many on here who think they are "seeing the wider picture" cannot see past the hating everything he does.
I don't think he cocked it up I think it was all planned. His business history reads like a who's who of companies that have been ****ed in the ass for every penny they've got. I used to think he was alright until every decision he made started to wreak of manipulation and wanting to make a quick buck. I personally think he has OCD, it's not the first time he's tried to **** over as many people as possible in the hopes of building some pointless leisure facilities that nobody wants. It's either he's trying to piss people off or it's a case of "I'm right and everyone else is wrong - why can't they see it?" mentality, which stinks of OCD. If you're choosing to respect him based on the fact that he couldn't possibly have gotten where he is without some business sense, you're a mad man. The world is run by people who are corrupt, look at the banks, the US government, Inland Revenue, etc, etc I could go on. Money is the only thing that matters to these people, so it's entirely understandable to believe that one of these head cases who puts his wallet before the good of others is in charge of our club. It's not necessarily the decisions he makes that reinforce this view, it's his rationalisations for every single one of them, feeling the need to explain why he's right and then undermine anyone who questions his infallible wisdom, it stinks of guilt. "Don't look at me, it was him!", he said when asked if he'd been stealing biscuits. Of course, the chocolate around his mouth told the whole story.
I wasn't at the game, but I was led to believe we were absolutely diabolical in the first half against City. We weren't all that great against ten 10 men in the second half and we didn't even look that good playing against 9 men and not forgetting this was against a struggling Bristol City team, when in the previous game against Birmingham City, we put in one of the best first half performances we have all season. We won, yes, but none of this suggests to me that we are any better off without Grayson, just a fair few quid down.
Stage 6 - Bates deflects blame onto Grayson, knowing that short-sighted fans always blame the manager.
If you're choosing to respect him based on the fact that he couldn't possibly have gotten where he is without some business sense, you're a mad man. Mark, if that was aimed at me, I certainly dont respect him and think he's an a**e, but some seem to be blinded to other mistakes being made by their hatred for Bates.
I haven't been blinded to other mistakes I just don't think they are relevant while Bates is in charge, because his decisions have a massive impact on everything at that club.
He's the new favourite now. The Raddy Antic odds are shortening now 8/1. Would love to know where they get their info from.
people betting money. Odds mean nothing really, they just change odds so that they don't lose money if it is that manager that is hried
As much as i respected Grayson for what he did! My niggle was how naive he was when it came to tactics. In the time hes been here, he's had countless partnership in defence, hes brought in so called good defenders and yet we were still able to concede stupid amounts of goals. Its like the wilko era, it went down hill because he couldnt get us to defend as a unit. We didnt win away the season he was sacked. George graham came in on a shoe string budget, sured up the defence, made us hard to beat, played a huge part in making sure we didnt concede! I'm all for the change people. Billy Davies would suit me down to the ground! Look what happened to Derby, Forest, and preston since he left! Hes a complete cockend, but will win you games, How the hell the same forest side that he got into the playoffs are 3rd from bottom!
Completely agree, tactically he was bordering on disastrous. Respect him for doing what he did on the budget he had, but the squad we have isn't as bad as people make it out to be. A better manager with more tactical nous could get a lot more out of the squad I'd love Antic myself, I just think european managers have that nous which english managers seem to lack! Knowing Bates though it'll be Redfearn until the end of the season, which doesn't really get us anywhere. I'll back whoever gets the job though, even if it is Roy Keane
