rooney is arrogantly right.. if utd beat city they go one point clear.

Rooney is arrogantly assuming they will match city in all other games.... and assumed a walkover next weekend <laugh>

Oh sweats. At sone stage over the weekend, you alluded to Liverpool fans stealing from dying peopple so that they could have a ticket for the following week. I thought we didn't refer to that sort of thing.

So "we do what we want" has become "we do what we can"?

Nice <ok> better than United fans on some other websites

Dont get them started, a few Utd fans like to resort to this stuff but get their knickers in a twist when you call them out on it.

Beggers belief !

all games last 90mins.....

as per rugby, the only reality that matters is whats on the refs watch. when it hits 90 then game over.... if you asked for this to be more transparent ala rugby i'd agree.

I wish it was depicted on the TV the same as it is in Rugby...also when the clock reaches 90 mins the defending team has to clear the ball into the opposition half.

Given that we've more than matched them in fixtures we've both played so far, it isn't that arrogant:
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/118606-Utd-v-City-Like-for-like-results-comparison

Admittedly, you'd expect them to get the 3pts back against Blackburn (h), but Stoke (a) is never easy, and Newcastle can beat anyone at St. James this season.

Let's see, why does getting one point from a game mean more than getting no points from a game?

It's one of life's little conundrums alright <laugh>

Well, we've matched City in pretty much every other game so far. Remember that they lost at SB...

rugby clock simply stops when play stops... really simple and proof the system works.

here's a shout for you mancs.

Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo, 27, is considering a return to the Premier League after growing disillusioned with life at Real Madrid.

Full story: Daily Mail

let me translate: no he's not missing you, no he's not regretting moving away, no he wouldn't love to come back... the real truth is he's sick of being made look like the seoncd best by barca and messi and wants to be the big fish in the small pond... if utd want to pay 300k per week I'm sure city would pay 500k per week...

finally....

for whiteside.

all i'm saying is rooney thinks you are two points behind only so one win can put you on top given your GD.... so we'll see if rooney is thinking you'll breeze the other games or not as the weeks progress.

I'm on record with swarbs here that i think city are in the process of bottling this one, you need to pally more pressure this weekend... which adds a little spice.

It's the same in Rugby, when a kick is being taken the clock still runs down. Unless the ball is completely dead or there is an injury.

I'll stick with my pre-season prediction that we'd be playing catch-up all season based on the way the fixtures came out - if we're still in touch (3pts) by the end of March, I'll back Utd to win.

True, but the ball is out of play a lot less in rugby. The ball is only in play for around half of a football match, when you consider the amount of time lost on throw ins, corners, minor fouls etc. And the whole basis of deciding stoppage time is fundamentally flawed - you're only supposed to add on time for injuries, goals and substitutions, but half the time it takes longer to take a corner or a direct free kick than it does to make a sub or score a goal if the scoring team is behind and so just grabs the ball out of the net.

I saw that in the Daily Express. Mmm, two tabs...reliable ;)

Be nice to see him in red again, but realistically I would rather we focus on midfield rather than getting yet another great winger / striker. Not sure City would pay £500k a week - that would not only screw their FFP chances, but would also knacker their wage structure - Silva, Toure, Aguero et all would all want an extra £100k a week to compensate for not being the top earners any more. I reckon Ronaldo would have to accept a big pay cut to play in the PL with any club given UEFA's recent comments on enforcing FFP.

Btw:
"The star – who joined Real from Manchester United in an £80 million world record transfer in June 2009 – has confided to family and friends that he misses Old Trafford and his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who he regarded as a father figure and mentor."

Are you sure he's not missing us? ;)

This is true. Ironically, the Liverpool game is bigger imo now than if we'd lost to Chelsea. If we'd lost then no matter what happened against Liverpool we'd still be in second. Now, we have a chance to move ahead of City, even if just for a day, and that could really pile the psychological pressure on.

With Sunderland, Norwich, Liverpool, Stoke, and Man City still to visit St. James, how many of the top 10 are they supposed to have beaten.
That means they've played most of the top 10 away already and they are above you in the table.

They are much improved and I back them to finish above your lot.

I reckon Newcastle have a great chance of getting fourth spot based on current form. Not only have they won four out of the last five, but Ba and Cisse are both scoring and linked up well together against Villa. I think they've benefitted from going to the ACON - they missed six games on heavy pitches in bad weather and instead played three games in some nice warm sun. Pretty much a perfect mid season break and they could be lethal in the second half of the season.
