Tampa Bay Buccanners are my team, they fared better this season, but I fear it will be a long time before they are anything more than perrenial whipping boys.

That was actually an excellent game, now if you do'nt like it thats fine but if you watched it with an open mind and payed attention thats the kind of game that just might get you more interested in the sport.
Was the same kinda thing this morning when I went to the english pub here in Baton Rouge to watch the Chelsea V Man U game there were a few americans that said "I hate soccer it's so boring" when they actually sat and watched it and it ended up 3-3 they said "hey that game is actually a lot more exciting than I realised"
Might have made a few converts to the beautiful game :)

When it was televised in the 80's a few friends got into it. I couldn't see the interest at the time but gave it a good go, and still couldn't see the interest or even manage to stay awake. It seems to suit those that don't like to think too much.

Now those same people blush at the memory and can't for the life of them see how it gets onto a sports channel. If that's on then they should televise the sports of watching grass growing and paint drying, with associated trumped up razzamatazz in typical crass American style.

Too promoted, too stop-start, too boring.

I tried getting into it a few years ago when Sky went mental with their coverage. My sisters married to an American, he used to play college football for the Huskers until he was in a car crash (very teen movie I know) and ****ed his knee. He likes to try and wind me up by telling me how **** 'soccer' is and me vice versa.

I admit it, I know nothing about either game. I have a friend in the US who supports the Broncos from Denver and was going to try and watch a game, will have to give it a go. I think the English eggchasers have started to wear helmets like Cech havent they, at least some of them.

I had a mate who was really into it and tried to convert a load of us, he had a Super Bowl party, where he plied us with Bud's and hot dogs and tried to get us into it. We watched the first half, wound him up a lot, got pissed, ate the hot dogs, then played pool while the second half was on. He gave up after that.

I'm a massive 49ers fan, have been since my old man got me a Montana shirt in the early 90s. Great season this year, after not making the playoffs since 2002 and going 6-10 last year, they managed to go 13-3 this year and made the NFC Conference game losing to the Giants in OT. I'm hoping for one better next year!

My mate goes Wembley when it hosts the annual match there. He's a pretty big fan and says he supports Green Bay. I've been at his house when he's watching the matches prior to the Super Bowl a few years ago, but never got into it.

I watched the first bit of the show yesterday, up until the yokels and Kelly Clarkson butchered their national anthem. Can't get my head round them singing it as if they're on the X Factor.

There's nowt wrong with cricket :)

The golden era of NFL was the 80's IMHO.....Montana, Elway, Marino, Cunningham, Simms, Moon all great QBs. For me Montana was the best, but Marino at the time had the glamour and the big plays.

As a schoolboy I got into it for a couple of years.
This was mid to late 80's.

    Jim McMahon was favourite player.
Great QB and a bit of a rebel as well.

That was a very good Chicago team, I've just remembered Walter Payton as well.
    Sadly died aged 45.

Ah, Randall Cunningham. The QB who didn't need any help other than an offensive line. Loved watching him scramble. I seem to have memories of Warren Moon throwing hail-marys every other play.

Never got in to NFL, but used to go to college games with family connections.

Football is a screwed up game -- towards the end the commentators were saying that the Patriots' best tactic was to to let the Giants score and go ahead whereas the Giants, despite being behind, would be better off not taking an obvious scoring chance and using up more time before trying to score. All to do with the Patriots having more or less time to score themselves after NY scored.

Well the reasoning behind it was they reckoned they would have a better chance of advancing the ball within range of a Hail Mary in 57 seconds than they would adving it far enough to get within range of a field goal in 20 seconds.

So they allowed them to score so that it used up less time than continuing to defend. In all honesty they nearly pulled it off as well as Gronkowski came within a whisker of getting to the batted ball in the endzone.
