One has to wonder how they intend to fit in all these new players, Rooney, Constable (although apparently he's staying). Is Di Canio the type to get a little excited after beating Wigan reserves and buy every League 2 striker under the sun? If so he's got a lot to learn <whistle>

I think Swindon are rapidly improving and will be League 2 champions this year. Lets hope we can sneak (barely noticed) into the top three! I make that last comment because of the Football League show last night which gave priority to showing a childish rant from Di Canio rather than highlighting our brilliant 10-man victory over the league leaders. It just goes to show how celebrity-obsessed the BBC Sports Department is.

Agreed, I find the cliched "passionate Italian" saga tedious. If he was in the Premier League the pundits would be tutting and saying you can't treat officials with such open disrespect, it sets a bad example etc. But because he's a big name and it's only L2 it's all a big joke.

When will people learn that shouting and ranting isn't the same thing as being passionate? I know a lot of wooden headed fans think it is but you'd think the media would know better. Di Canio's being backed financially and I expect Swindon to go up, though I don't see why they're more likely champions than anyone else, ourselves included. I don't think he'll amount to much as a manager in the higher leagues though, because I can't see any big clubs wanting an exciteable twerp as a manager. He doesn't seem to have the intelligence.

His arrogance on the FLS really got to me - he said "even if I'm banned for every game, we will still win this league."

There's such a thing as self-belief, and giving your players confidence, but that's just plain disrespectful to the rest of the teams at the top and heaps pressure onto his players.

I think they should win this league, but if he's so complacent, then I don't think they will.

Di Canio has always been a mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly. Clearly he has greater resources at his disposal than almost every other team in this league but he has learned from his early mistakes and has started to sign some players who are proven performers in this league (such as Benson - if only he had joined us a coulpe of years ago). I do think that his histrionics on the touchline does not help his side and I much prefer the calm demeanour of managers such as GT who are trying to keep a clear head and reassure their players when the going gets tough.

After watching highlights and seeing Di Canio lightly kicking a player, Matt Ritchie?, as he walked off the pitch after missing a goal. Would you want to be a player in a club that had a manager humiliate you?

i feel sure gt has a wry smile at the antics of the unacceptable face of league management. we need to go to the arsehole of england on the 21.2.11 and take them apart, pizza, spaghetti hoops and all. come on you shrews! floreat salopia,

Swindon fan in peace, I can see where you come from with Paolo Di Canio, but maybe you are a reading all the headline news and not looking at the whole picture, of course he is going to make the headlines every time he speaks, but if you dig a bit deeper and read some of the stuff that has been written about him in the Independent or The Observer and see the other side of him, i can honesty say that 90% of you would say i wish he was our manager. OK he is still in a learning curve at the moment but he sure knows how to prepare a team for the next match, he and his team study the opposition for the next match to the finest detail, to the point of telling goalkeepers where strikers are going to put penalties or shots, thats why we have the best defence in the league.
The players here love this guy to pieces, he lost his father just before Christmas, we played Plymouth away and won, the players dragged him to the fans , because they wanted him to know how special he is to them, and that it was through his leadership and training that they and we are doing so well.
You may well think that i am biased, i am of course, but listen to what he says about football, he talks a lot of sense. Players that have recently joined us, say that PDC was a major factor of why they joined Swindon because they can see what is happening at Swindon and want to be part of what i belive to be a great period for my team.
Just a quick prediction, remember you read it here first, PDC will in the next 10 years be a manager that every top club in the world will want as their manager.

Hi atcham jack, thanks for understanding where i was coming from. Always had a bit of a soft spot for the "Shrews", eversince you beat Man City all those years ago, even went to Swindon v Shrews game on my honeymoon back in the 70s, lol, we won 3-1. Should be a great match on the 22nd and we do owe you one but what ever the outcome i know it will be a game of football and not hoofball. Yeah i reckon we will go up and i hope you and your team do as well. Best of luck for the rest of the season , after the 22nd.
