Hes impressed me alot this season, he has looked better than cabaye in many games and his composure and passing has been exceptional.

Moreover his workrate is equally impressive and hes got many years left at this level.

Does anyone know how many years he has left on his contract?

Whats going on? everything seems to be going right and we are getting lucky instead of unlucky. Even Perch is putting in class performances.

Brilliant, brilliant man management. No fluke that these guys who were previously on the periphery are playing so well.

They want to play in this team, they have hunger to stay in it once given the chance and Pardew has worked very hard to credit those who are on the fringes or not playing.
It keeps the group together, gives squad players hope and then makes them want to do well for him when they come in.

Awesome team spirit and a collective enjoyment for being great as a group. You can see it from every player, bar none.

His contract is up at the end of the season, wouldn't blame him for leaving tbh, the way he's playing he could walk into a lot of Premier League XIs. Let's be honest, he has outshone Cabaye whenever he has played. I've always said he was class, one of the very few NUFC-related things I've been right about in the past few years <laugh>

imo he should accept a contract here, as he is first reserve CM, and Cabaye/Tiote will both be suspended a lot, plus Tiote is at ACON again next year, so he'll be in the team plenty

If i was him i would stay with Newcastle.

He gets plenty of games and will continue to do so in the future. None of the big 6 will want him, he wont fancy an everton or villa surely?. The only way i could see him leaving is if qpr want him and offer big wages.

I think he would prefer to play now and then for us than be first choice lesser team going nowhere, credit to pardew for sticking by him and i feel bad for slating him last year, hes proved me wrong.

Another big game from him today, didn't put a foot wrong. Need to get him tied down.

He was class in October time when Tiote was out for a few games. He was very unlucky to get dropped back then but took it in the right manner by coming back as good, if not stronger. As for him going elsewhere, i wouldn't blame him if he didn't feel a necessity to be loyal to us. I think he will sign but he's already given us value for what we've given him and if Everton come in for him he may fancy a move back home.

I genuinely think he could be class for us for years to come, underrated by most. The lad even got a draw away to Bayern Munich in the Europa Cup when at Bolton a few years back. Be a shame if he goes.

He hasn't put a foot wrong this season, capturing the form he showed in the Championship season.

If he was to leave he'd probably follow the path of N'Zogbia, who's starting to look like a mid-table journeyman.

I had a pretty massive argument with my mate regarding him a year ago, I said i rated him and thought that he would come good, he said he was just another Ambrose who was good in Championship but not good enough for Premiership. Anyways we had this debate about 3 or 4 times and neither of us changed our views at all. After todays performance he text me saying...and I quote "You were right about Guthrie, he is quality".

I'm glad the lad has won over many fans and hopefully he'll continue to play how he is.

Must admit I hated Guthrie last year - thought he was nothing more than a poor man's Barton.
I've been delighted to have been proven wrong consistently. Ashley Ashley sign him up!

I think Guthrie is smart enough to know hes better off with us.

Apart from a few moments Zog looked average today, sure hes a good player but he just doesnt seem like he will ever go beyond that.

I said we shouldnt sign him at the time the rumours were going round and everyone was slating me lol but i was right, it would have been a waste of money and we havent wasted a penny in 2 years.

He plays very much like Yohan Cabaye in a kind of quarter back role. What we need now is a better replacement for Tiote because we saw v fulham away that Cabaye and Guthrie doesn't offer enough protection. Agree he's been fantastic recently.

He's been fantastic this season like, he's always seemed a bit hit and miss in the past but he seems consistent enough this season!

Hopefully he signs, him and PERCH are great back up/rotation options for Tiote and Cabaye for me. Perch has improved a hell of a lot lately.

I still think Cabaye has a bit more drive and has an eye for a more defense splitting pass...

I could see Swansea or Norwich going for him. They'll need players like Guthrie to avoid second season syndrome. Second Syndrome hasn't exactly affected us though, has it

Happy to admit he's proved me wrong. Didn't really rate him, but this year he really has stepped up to the mark. I would still have Tiote and Cabaye as 1st choice centre mids, but he's pushing them hard for a starting place. Great to have competition like this.
