afternoon chaps/chapettes ive got to hand it to alan pardew with this current squad ...and the signing of demba and this cisse chap looks decent aswell. and if we dont make the champs league (which i dont think we will) id love to see theese guys finish ahead of the gunners and chelsea my question is , is our lack of goals going to bite us in the backside ???? i mean andy carroll is starting to look like a player but we still lack a 20 goal torres in his prime or a robin van persie to see it right.... im not a doom monger but im not overly confident of a top 4 finish
I just logged on to write something similar - fair play to Newcastle and Pardew, what he's done is astonishing. Unfortunately for the fans, Ashley will simply see the ££ signs and flog anyone decent, so Pardew will continually have his work cut out to sustain it.... Who'd of though that 4th would be a dog fight between Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle....funny ol' game
No doubt they have been the team of the season so far and Ba has probably been the signing of the season. I did think at the start of the season they would slowly drop away as they had the easiest start compared to most teams but fair play to them they have kept it up. I think Kenny was wary of buying again in January knowing that last time he had to pay over the odds for Carrol so maybe thought we'd hold off until the summer before going into the market. Suarez is now back and should be fresh (he hasn't had a break in 2 years) and Carrol has looked better in the last few games as well. Bellamy is on fire at the moment as well so in theory we shouldn't have too many problems. For the first time we now have a fully fit and available squad and historically we tend to do a lot better towards the end of the season.
Kuyt is finding form again, so is Carroll. Bellamy is on fire and of course we now have Suarez back. I'm happy with our strike force atm. We just need the form to continue til the end of the season.
I think Spearing can cover fine until the end of the season. He'll be vital against Spurs to stop VDV dropping deep
This is our most important pl game to date this season. If we win we are right in the mix but if we lose or draw then I'm doughtful of any chance of a cl spot with a tricky game at Manu next week and some big cup games I can only see us dropping back unless we can keep this wining streak going for a fair few games.
Tonight is vital that we make a statement and beat Spurs. Be happy with a point against united, but I really think tonight at Anfield just has to be a great performance and 3 points. Otherwise we will be 5 points off 4th if we lose and heading to OT next week.
cisse didn't look very good to be frank. offside wasn't his strongest point was it... Ba looked really really good.
