He ditched the 4-2-3-1. Correctly done as it didn't create that many chances.

He started with the right team as HBA would have been a bit of a liability with Villa on the break.

He brought on the correct subs when he was asked. I thought it was a bit early for Cisse but he proved to ready to play straight away.

Today brings up serious questions as to why he switched to 4-2-3-1 when we were missing Demba Ba. Shola isn't good enough to play up front on his own.

Our front 2 look the real deal and Cisse's goal was an absolute beauty.

I'm looking forward to the rest of season. We can go to Spurs with nothing to lose and just play without fear.

Get well soon Ryan Taylor and Besty.

.........I just wish we had signed a decent centre back in January as Willo's positioning is shocking at times.

    Howay the lads!

Pardew got it far from spot on. In fact, he didn't really play much of a roll in our win today at all in my opinion. It was the two Demba's taking their chances and that's about it.

Once again, Pardew played a very high defensive line, which is madness against a counter-attacking team like Villa. The amount of times very simple passes sent Bent through on goal was actually ridiculous. It was just too easy for them, and if it wasn't for some last-ditch defending and some good luck, they could have had 3 or 4 goals using that tactic.

Great win, but I don't think Pardew's tactics helped the players.

Needs to get rid of the super high line, we were lucky Bent didn't take advantage of it.

We have always played with a high line due to the sheer size of our pitch.

If we try and take the game to the opposition we will inevitably have a high line, otherwise the gap between defence and midfield would be too great.

Darren Bent always plays on the shoulder. How many times did actually get in clear on goal? I cant remember once. The only chance he had was when Keane slipped him in round the back of Simpson.

Villa played on our weakness at full back area first half. 2nd half we dominated.

    Good win.

My main image from the first 30 mins was of kean shouting at Bent for not following through, he just doesn't seam to have the drive to go on and take advantage. Yes Bent was often onside but he didn't do much with it, the super high line seamed to confuse him as he never had the ball in a shooting position.

On the other hand it did help the other players make beaks down the wings.

I agree, one defender would have been the perfect addition, shame but im happy overall, we wont get relegated anytime soon.

Ill agree with this to a certain extent, we have got the rub of the green alot this season. Its ridiculous but i couldnt be happier, about time we got some heavy doses of fortune.

For the one's who complain about the high line, your probably the same fans who complain when we don't put pressure on the ball when the opposition have it at the back, you simply can't do both without them bossing the midfield as there is too much room...

    ...just my opinion anyways.

Pardew seems very tactically astute in some ways but hes also lacking in other areas.

He gets the team motivated, organised and competitive, he seems like a good man-manager too. Hes also good with the press.

However he often waits too long to bring subs on, his tactics can be sloppy and he lets shola start games, he shouldnt even get sub apps.

That being said hes shown hes a good if not great manager, no question about that and i wouldnt trade him for anyone else.

I don't get how anyone can say Pardew didnt make the right decisions today :S

Fair enough, he was forced in to making two of the subs, but the decision to drop Ben Arfa and play Raylor was a good one, and Obertan was the right choice to come on for him.

Cisse benched for Best/Ba was the correct one too.

Shola was brought on at the right time to do the job he should be doing too.

I'm certain the defence will stop this high-line crap when Tiote gets back. He doesn't take that ****
