Just been looking at the Premier League tables since its inception in 1992-93. Did you know that at least one team promoted from the Championship (or its previous incarnation as Division One) the previous season has gone straight back down in EVERY season with the exception of 2001-02? There are, of course, lies, damn lies and statistics!
Yes I was aware of this. Are you saying with Norwich and Swansea flying high we're doomed? We'll beat both the drop and the statistics this year, YOU R's!
No. Despite having my weekend spoiled by what happened yesterday, I do think that the Rs will survive. I see nothing in the qualities of Bolton, Blackburn or Wigan - and even Wolves for that matter - that suggests any of them will finish above us. As for Norwich and Swansea, recent history shows a good first PL season for one promoted side, but relegation in the second season. That difficult second album, so to speak. I can see Swansea following the likes of Hull and Reading in this regard.
