What do people think would happen ? Obviously we would have bragging rights as we had a 10 game (i think) handicap with Bruce, who admittedly has a brilliant transfer policy and scouting network, but couldnt utilise them properly In came God and we're now in a respectable position However how would newcastle fans feel? Knowing this was easily their best chance in years to do it and blew it Would they want pardew out ? Would their be calls for ashley's head again? Or would they stand by them ? Admittedly i dont think it will happen, but if it did, and we were to get tgat last spot for euro before them, on the last day of the season, how immense it would be!
We've been 15 points behind them, even since Mon came on board but 6 is the closest we have managed to get it down to so far. We need a mini collapse for them and our form to continue and they are two hard asks tbh. The mags have had a terrific season to be fair to them and our revival is only 10 games in. I'd sacrifice top dogs status for a trip to Wembley mind. Lol
If certain to win the cup (which winning is never a certainty with Sunderland looking at the past) Then I would take that over top dog status, but if we were to be knocked out, then above situation
It would be pretty funny after all of the braggadocio comments about how their team is better than ours in virtually every department but I cannot see us being to overhaul the 15 points we were behind them. Mind you if they happened to lose today I'm sure it would be squeeky bum time for a lot of their fans - especially with the derby coming up. For the record I'm not predicting a Villa win today as they've look poor lately but of course I would be very happy to see a certain player earn his 30 pieces of silver.
If the mags wanted Pardew and Ashley out after the season they've had, they'd have to be even dafter than they look.
Pardew should be a contender for Manager of The Year to be honest, unless a certain little Irishman from wearside has something to say about it. We are the form side in the top flight in December and January. February hasn't started to shabby either.
That's rivalry. You want to finish above your rivals. No one said it was the only thing they were interested in.
You're target last season was to finish above us and P oor effort commachio you could have atleast changed syd's name to mine
It will be hard to finish above them and i dont think we will, we have some hard games coming up and with Ba, Tiote and Cisse returning for them, i wouldnt be surprised it stays around 6 to 9 points. Next year though, with the right purchases we can be a real force in this league!
I don't usually say 'this'. But.... 'this'. We won't catch them, but the fact that somewhere in this season MON landed and we can genuinely be positive about the future is my compensation. A little mooch to Wembley would just be the icing on it. Fair play to them, as no matter what happens, they've had a smashing season, and bar the naming of the stadium, the fat man has absolutely taken the club, not just the team forward. We Are Sunderland.
No it wasn't. That was Bruce's target, because the only thing he could achieve was a fluky finish above you.
Aye i deleted the first one, i made it especially for syd, and posted the wrong one..... But not as bad as your comments........obviously we would like to finish above your **** stain of a club...(but don't think we will) But doing a good job of closing the gap....so it's a good bench mark on how well MoN is doing....
Ha! Ha! What a plum. Your lot and you in particular dick licker, live on our board daily, telling us our players are ****e, how better you are and how we can't catch you. Yet for all the so called great season you are having, and the crap one we are, we are only 6 points off you with a better defensive record and very similar goals scored one. Oh and this little club are still in the cup. Who has a massive global club likes yours been drawn against in round 5? Lol Trot on tube.
I'm just happy that Spurs played Sunderland at game 2 of MoN's reign and not game 5 or 6. He seems to have stabilised the club in next to no time and has uncovered a gem in James McClean (or however you spell it). I'm pleased for Sunderland except I do want Newcastle to finish above them because I have Newcastle affiliation. If Sunderland do finish above Newcastle, then it would be well deserved. If they don't, then it would be deserving on Newcastle to finish above Sunderland. What is quite surprising is how well both clubs are doing given what was predicted of Newcastle this season (some tipped them for relegation) and the first third of Sunderland's season. So I'm pleased to some extent that pride has returned to Tyneside.
Well we know it will be quiet on our board at the end of the season if they do finish above us as none of them will come on gloating because it is only important to us and isn't the least little bit important to them..
I bet that's exactly what happens Lever, it'll be a Mag ghost town on our board, as we are way to insignificant for them to care about finishing above us.... (bookmarked)
