I was thinking about this yesterday when talking to a Villa fan mate of mine. He thinks we have better players than Villa had when MON was the manager their. What do you guys think? McClean vs Young Larsson vs Downing Sess vs Milner Catts vs Petrov Campbell vs Agbonglhor Bendtner vs Heskey Wickham vs Carew Colins vs Brown Dunn vs Oshea Bardo vs Cuellar Ricco vs Warnock Its an interesting one, you have to think that it was the villa MON versions of Milner, Young and Downing and not the players they since become. On paper its probably quite close, I think actually our bench is probably better with the likes of Gardner, Colback, Meyler, Bridge, Turner, Killgalon etc.. all very decent alternatives.
That's the thing with MON He makes average players good. Good players great and great players become Sess.
IMO McClean = Young Larsson < Downing Sess < Milner Catts = Petrov Campbell = Agbonglhor Bendtner > Heskey Wickham > Carew Colins > Brown Dunn < Oshea Bardo > Cuellar Ricco > Warnock Bench < Bench
i seem to remember milner ran that team like sess does now he might not be as good (SKILL WISE) but he was more importent to them
I would pull you up on Agbonlahor too connor I thought most of the time he was dreadful for Villa very flash in the pan. He has actually looked better coming from the wing since Bent went there.
like MR says, far too early. The AV players that have been mentioned MON bought them or brought them through the ranks. The Sunderland players are not his players, he has inherited them. Luckily though, I dont believe we need whole sale changes, I dont think he will do a Bruce with Keane`s team, he will strengthen it no doubt, and bring his his own players, but no sweeping changes like we have had to endure in the past. Imagine if the next manager of Man U sells all the players and brings in his own team, there would be hell on, OK we were no Man U, but i do think that was Bruces downfall, far too many changes.
