I see the Sun have published an article stating that Hull KR are looking to move the KC. I can't see it being able to take an extra sports team playing (looking at the state of the pitch). I wonder if we could get one of those 3G artificial pitches instead? On another rugby thread I see there is a small time sport, small mindedness about Monday night matches. I know it's not great that Sky has got such an influence on sport but Football fans for over a century have gone to away matches on a night... What is the big deal?
3 years ago, I was told by someone with senior influence at Hull KR at the time that they'll be at the KC within 10 years...
so why have HKR got funding TO UPGRADE CRAVEN PARK THEN ? LEAVE EM THERE ITS MORE THAN BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM.
OI - I never said it was going to happen or it was my opinion that it was likely, I just passed on what was said to me directly.
ground sharing would be one short step away from a merger - im not a massive rugby fan , but i appreciate the code and that we have 2 competitive clubs in the top flight and wouldnt welcome any dilution of the cross city rivalry that exists now
No way would Rovers ever leave East Hull - its just Hudgell posturing because they've no money, their Directors aren't wealthy enough to underwrite the increasing debts (currently £450k a year) and the Council funded North Stand development has stalled. Better idea would be for Hull and Rovers to ground share at a new stadium next to the River Hull so as to appease both sets of supporters - we might then have a pitch worthy of our passing style of play.
I am sure I read something about provisional talks about a possible merger a few months back. What about the KR ground being extended and both clubs playing there?
A Merger between Hull and Hull KR, no chance. That would be the rugby equivalent of Man U and Man City or Liverpool, Everton merging
Huh, I remember when they tried to merge North Ferriby and Swanland. It surely can't cause a bigger row than that!
Except its's not really Hull FC and Hull KR that would merge? It's Gateshead Thunder (renamed to Hull FC) and Hull KR. Perhaps the new club could form it's name from both Hull FC (so take Hull) and from Rovers the KR bit. Leaving Hull KR. The clubs play in Black and White and Red and White. So take the white from Hull FC and mix it with the Red from Rovers. Voila!
They need to suck it in and merge, it would only be good for Hull to have a superteam from the city, not that I care about egg-chasing but it makes sense financially and in every other way, the fans would get over it soon enough when they are the best team in the sport.
the scale of your comparison is ludicrous. The City of Hull is small potato in comparison to Manchester or Liverpool and Rugby League is a Jersey Royal. Initially, 15k or 20k RL fans will be in their deluded uproar. Eventually, 15k or 20k will be watching it at the Circle or Craven Park every other week! radio 'Umbersard and the Hull Daily Mail will fuel the fire for their own purposes. A trully local radio station such as a mythical Radio Yorkshire would immediately recognise the contemporary sense
