I'm not at all surprised, Oli's looked good in his last two games and Evans has looked jaded, it will be good for both of them. If you happen to bump into Nick, tell him to play two strikers tomorrow as well and we'll be laughing.
I might be wrong, but I think the jist of BL's post was just with regards the current team selection. He's not offering an awful lot now so take him out of focus for a bit. I tend to disagree, I think at the moment his main function is to be the legs in midfield to let Koren and McKenna do what they need to do, the way Marney used to do it so Ashbee could just sit in front of the defence. We do need to rotate the squad though to get us through to the break when everyone can recharge.
Can't argue with this too much, if NB feels Oli is ready than he is ready. There is no way any of us can know better about something like this. I get the impression that NB is worried about certain players becoming fatigued after a busy period of games. Pulling all this together I'd expect: Mannone Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dawson Oli McKenna Brady Koren King McLean Carson Cooper Evans Stewart Fryatt
Oli & McKenna would give us a good experienced midfield with the youg guns in front, yeah Evans is knackered cos he was doing two mens' jobs when he had to play with Cairney..
I'll hazard a guess that he only had McKenna, Evans, and Cairney available to start (Oli not being ready at that stage). McKenna and Evans both needed resting but one had to play. Barmby then took the decision to rest McKenna because we don't have a replacement for him, but he knew that Evans could be rested in a few games time when Oli was ready to start. I can't remember the timing on the Harper loan, but I'm assuming he'd either gone already or the move was arranged and we didn't want to injure him and see him not get a move. He's out of contract in the summer, and since we've no intention of using him it's only right we don't risk his chances of finding a club by playing him when one is interested.
