The on line Daily Mail had an article today giving the worst 20 post codes to live in England and Wales in relation to being a victim of burglary.

Low and behold Hull or East Yorkshire didn't have one single place in the 'top' 20.

Leeds had 4 and Bradford 2.

That made Leeds the market leader by some considerable distance.

I appreciate that this has nothing to do with football and is off topic but imagine if it had been boot on the other foot.
Some berk from their board would be over here giving it the large one about Hull being a crime riddled khasi.

I'd also be interested to know if Barry Grayson and Christine Arkwright ( or whatever they are called)have had such news plastered all over their version of Look North.
You could bet your last quid if Hull had 4 post codes out of twenty on that list that skinny frigger Peter Levy would have been all over it like a tramp on chips.

I know our city ain't perfect but whenever we are on a **** list every one knows about it. Even our own media love to perpetuate this poor image of our fair city IMO.
However when the sprawling metropolis that is Leeds is named and shamed it hardly gets a mention.

    Just saying like.

I read about this at work this morning, one of them seemed a nice picturesque village in Wessie land. Bizarre.

I'm not suprised about Leeds, remember they were the only Yorkshire city to kick off in the riots last summer.

I agree our local rag and media would have a field day if any HU postcode was given.

I liked the bit were it stated that being on that list could possibly mean the area in question was in fact affluent thus being targeted by burglars. I then saw Gipton on the list.

Sorry but it really doesn't work like that, not 'round here any way.

The level of dwelling burglary in the West Hull villages is very, very low.

Agree fully NFU. The West Hull villages are as nice as anywhere else in the country IMO but the problem - like everything with Hull - is that these parts are never included as Hull. The criteria for what counts as Hull and what doesn't seems to be simply 'if it's crap it counts, if it's nice it doesn't' rather than anything geographical.

You're looking at it the wrong way round, it's not Hull because it's crap, it's crap because it's Hull. Or to be more cynical:

Everything run by Hull City Council overtime tends towards being crap.
Everything run by ERYC and the local parish councils tends over time to be better.

(And if you ever hear someone seriously suggesting that's THE reason feel free to give them a slap. They're either a Tory out canvassing ahead of an election dishonestly making out it's all due to differing policies between the parties, or it's a ****ing idiot that doesn't realise the different parties in control are another result of the reasons rather than being the reasons, either way the slap can't do any harm)
