according to the hdm we should have been in administration a million times... or is that blunderside?
it would seem harsh to drop either evans or mckenna after recent good displays, but i thought oli looked a different class to both in his appearance the other night, his 1st touch was brilliant, and great vision when he chested it down and just sprayed a 30/40 yard pass with the outside of his foot to the left wing.
I like you think Evans will give way if Oli starts, however I do feel on the whole he has done a good job, and NB might rest him, as we are coming up to a busy period, and it will be the rotation of players that will be the key to success.
He offers 10 more years of footballing career. No need to bash him, he's 21 and being asked to boss the midfield like a captain and veteran player like mckenna, doesn't add up. Play oli but evans could gradually grow into the role just needs time.
His match fitness and period of time he has been out. Subject to an injury, I would expect Oli to get a start in the Leeds or Ipswich home game. But its Nicks call so we shall all have to trust his judgement as to when Oli does start and for whom.
i think Evans has been excellent this season after a slow start but has looked a little tired of late and the break will do him good.
Exactly the reason he will be on the bench tomorrow. He has played a lot of games and NB just thinks he is suffering a little.
Olifinjana can wait his turn and work hard to get back in the squad, he's only just comeback & he hasn't done enough just yet in my book. Evans doesn't need to stand out, he's there to get stuck in and do the dirty work. Defensive midfielders generally go unoticed by the spectators & go without the plaudits. He might not be a flair player but he goes about his business well.
I agree. I'm impressed with his attitude as well. By his own admission he came back to pre-season out of shape and wasn't getting in the team, but he's worked hard, got back in the team and kept his place. I think he's an important player for us
I like Oli, he got 6 goals for Cardiff last season aswell, i doubt Evans & McKenna would get that between them in 2 seasons. Oli's height might also attract extra attention & start freeing up some space for others to get on the end of set pieces for once.
