Controversy shouldn't be over FA taking captaincy from Terry, but that they ever gave him the job in the first place. Or the second place.
Think it just proves clearly again how influenced the FA is by media pressure. Regardless of what I think of Terry (which is somewhere in the gutter) he has the right to innocent until proven guilty. This decision (to be correct )should have been made as soon as the allegations were made official. This would have been more in line with "normal" employment practices. Now it just looks like firefighting image problems. Weak weak body.

What I have never understood is why the Captain position is such a BIIIIG story in England. Its not like he is a quarterback in American football. I believe there are bigger issues in English football like youth development and at least trying to win a trophy as a national team.

We all knew that Terry was going to get off light and that the FA were going to do their best to protect him, even when a lot of people said on here ( rival fans) said he was probably going to get the same as Suarez. My only hope is that Rio is still a big name in English footy ( barely) but he can really make a case and push to get Terry into that hot seat.
Nope; I will await the detail of the evidence before making up mind. Did that for Suarez, Terry deserves same. Think it's dangerous to talk of Terry "getting off light" if in fact he is only treated with the fairness we believed was NOT shown Suarez. If the evidence is clear cut & THEN the FA give a lesser or no sentence I'll talk of Terry getting off with it. As for Rio, he continues to Lord it round like his opinion matters publicly When it matters not, increasingly like his presence on the pitch.
I think its bad by Chelsea to ask this to be delayed till july! The excuse of players not being available is one of the worst I've heard I mean being a footballer not exactly the most demanding work hours is it. This whole thing stinks of Chelsea trying to do damage limitation not having Terry out fo any part of the season and having the trial out of season so that they can bring someone in to replace him. I don't know if he's guilty or not but surely what Chelsea is doing is far worse than what we got all the crap for earlier in the season, at least we faced up to it.

**** I've just put 20 quid on Cuthbert getting the job Don't particularly want to comment on Terrys guilt or innocence in this case as he has the right to a fair trial (unlike some) but giving him the captaincy back was always going to be a disaster. The guys so far up his own arse he should be nicknamed The Enema Being England captain should be an honour and it should be appreciated as such and not just used as an excuse to "pull a few more slags" and get more wages out of your clubs pockets as it seems to be these days. We all know Gerrard should have been captain for years but no way would the FA ever allow that on a long term basis while Fungus is pulling the strings. I would have never had an issue with a guy like Lampard getting the captaincy simply because I honestly believe he would have taken the responsibility seriously and genuinely treasured it. Joe Hart should get it for me but as this is an FA/Capello decision my money's on Ashley Cole
